Day 7 - At Sea

Today, Silver Moon is sailing to Busan, South Korea. We decided to enjoy breakfast in our suite this morning. We called our butler, Enock, placed our order and within 30 minutes, he arrived and set up our coffee table with linen tablecloth, napkins, flatware and all the trimmings.

After breakfast, we head down to Deck 4 to try our hand at archery. This is a game that is onboard as part of the kids’ program that Silversea offers for families traveling in Alaska. The Alaska sailings typically draw more families than other Silversea itineraries. We only counted five children on this cruise, all of whom were very well behaved and respectful.

The game involved shooting suction cup arrows at a target about 12 feet away. It was actually a lot of fun, and harder than it looks.

This afternoon, we attended another Destination Briefing by Marisa on shopping in Busan, South Korea. Apparently, South Korea is the cosmetic and skin care capital of the world, so I have a pretty good idea what we will be doing when we get there.

For dinner this evening, we decided to try Atlantide. Atlantide is the closest thing Silversea has to a main dining room. The menu changes here every evening. We arrived early (6pm) and were seated at a nice table for two next to a window. Another couple was seated at a table for 2 next to us. The two-top tables in Atlantide can be a little too close together for our liking with only about 10-12” of space between the tables.

Rickee ordered the Carpaccio starter and I had the beef and cheese croquettes. Both of these dishes were good, but I feel like my croquettes could have been plated a little nicer.

Rickee also ordered the tomato soup, which she said tasted like canned tomato soup. I tried the seared scallops, which were quite small and overcooked. They were also served cold. They looked more like bay scallops instead of sea scallops. This dish was a far cry from the seared scallops I had on Silver Ray in 2024.

The wheels came off the meal when the main courses arrived. Rickee’s king prawns had not even been de-veined properly.

I sent my first steak back because it was so rare I could barely cut it (I ordered Medium). The waiter took my steak back and offered to bring me a new one. When the second steak arrived, it was even more rare than the first one! At this point, we sort of gave up and decided we were not willing to wait for another round of main courses.

At the same time, we overheard the couple next to us complaining to the waiter about the shrimp cocktail the woman had ordered for her starter. I could see the plate and it was four small cocktail shrimp on a flat plate with a dollop of ketchup. They were complaining that it should have been served in a cocktail shrimp bowl with ice and cocktail sauce, not ketchup! We also made some new friends on this cruise and they, too, had complaints about the food and service at Atlantide.

We did decide to order dessert, and these dishes were okay.

I think we have had our last meal at Atlantide on this cruise. Tomorrow, we will be in Busan, South Korea.
