This morning, Silver Moon is docked in the port of Kochi, Japan. A complimentary shuttle service takes us from the port to a central bus terminal in town.
After crossing a few major streets, we arrive at a long covered outdoor mall with shops, restaurants and local vendors.
It is only about 10:30am and most of the shops are not yet open. The covered mall makes for an easy walk to get to the Kochi Castle.
It is only a 15-minute walk from the bus depot to the castle. By the time we arrive, however, it is starting to get pretty hot outside. There are a lot of steps leading up to the castle, so those with mobility issues will probably not enjoy this attraction.
The palace at Kochi Castle
We climbed up far enough to get a good look at the palace, but opted not to climb all the way to the top. It was just too hot for us.
On our way back to the bus terminal, we spotted a Mister Donut shop in the mall. We have seen rave reviews of Mister Donut on YouTube, so we had to try it. They had a huge variety of donuts and the ones we tried were very good.
When we arrived back at the ship, several of the butlers, along with galley team members, were on hand to welcome us back to the ship.
Welcome Home
We decided it was a good day to visit the Grill for lunch. While The Grill has a nice menu, it is not as complete as the one we enjoyed on Silver Ray in 2024. We miss the fried Calamari and Fish and Chips that they offered on Silver Ray.
Rickee ordered the hot dog, while I ordered the Silversea Burger. Rickee enjoyed the hot dog, and my burger was fine. Silversea’s burger is sort of in the middle of the pack when it comes to cruise ship burgers. The meat has very little flavor and suffers from a lack of seasoning. Fortunately, the bun is very fresh and really helps to elevate an otherwise average burger. Silversea’s onion rings taste frozen and uninspiring. The French Fries are just okay.

The Mezze Plate, on the other hand, is embarrassing. This is a “shareable” platter with literally a tablespoon of hummus and baba ganoush. There was barely enough hummus for one small pita. And, these tiny ramekins of Tzatziki and Greek salad are barely enough for one person. And, the presentation leaves a lot to be desired for a “luxury” cruise line.

This afternoon, we played Bingo in Dolce Vita Lounge followed by Team Trivia.
After trivia, it was time for Golf Putting on Deck 4.
We ended the day with cocktails in Observation Lounge. The vibe here was sort of depressing, so we ended up going down to Panorama Lounge to finish the evening.
Tomorrow will be another day at sea as we sail toward Busan, South Korea.
