We arrived in Tokyo at around 3:30pm and were greeted by our Blacklane limo driver as soon as we exited baggage claim at Haneda airport.
Our driver loaded our carry-on luggage into the back of his minivan and soon we were on our way to our hotel. Having a pre-arranged limousine service is a real luxury when traveling internationally.
The ride to our hotel, the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi, took about 40 minutes from Haneda airport.
Having been up most of the night on the 13-hour flight from DFW, all we could think about was getting to our room and getting some rest. Check-in at Four Seasons was smooth and efficient. You can read our review of Four Seasons Tokyo at Otemachi by clicking the button below.
Friendly greeting at Reception
One of the staff escorted us to our room on the 37th floor of the hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed.
After sleeping for what seemed like 12 hours straight, we woke up to a rainy and overcast Tokyo. We had planned to spend the remaining three days exploring Tokyo and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the weather was so poor that we spent much of our time enjoying the amazing Four Seasons Hotel.
However, one day we did take a tour of Mount Fuji that we booked through Viator.
The tour was a full day, mostly onboard a motor coach, with stops on Mount Fuji and Hakone Lake Ashinko where we had our clearest views of Mount Fuji.
Mount Fuji
We stopped at the Fifth Place on Mt. Fuji where we visited a Shinto shrine and had the opportunity to try the famous Melon Bread, a soft and delicious cake shaped like Mt. Fuji!

We then were treated to a boat ride on Hakone Lake Ashinko where we had windy scenic views of Mt. Fuji.
The Viator tour was well worth the $159 per person and even included a buffet lunch, which honestly, was not that great. But, I would still recommend the tour.
Inside the Shinkansen
We also had the opportunity to ride the bullet train back to Tokyo at the end of our tour. The train interior was spotlessly clean and everyone remains quiet. It was a very peaceful ride back to Tokyo.
You can find 7-11 stores on nearly every corner in Tokyo. There was even one in the basement of our hotel building. We could not visit Japan without trying one of the famous Egg Salad Sandwiches from 7-11. I have to admit, it was as good as everyone on YouTube says it is. In fact, there are a lot of good food choices at 7-11 in Japan.
The evening view of Tokyo from our hotel room was one we will not soon forget.
