Day 4 - At Sea

Finally, after being docked in rainy Tokyo for three days, we are sailing toward our first port of Osaka, Japan.

This morning, I head to Deck 11 forward to the Observation Lounge to get early morning coffee and work on my computer. Observation Lounge is the only place I could find on Silver Moon to get early morning coffee. There is a coffee machine here dispensing a variety of coffee drinks, except for Americano. I don’t think I have ever seen one of these machines that did not have an option for an Americano. Nevertheless, I was able to make my own by combining Espresso with hot water. Also, there is no cream or milk provided here for the coffee.

As I am working on my computer, another guest comes into the lounge and sits next to me with his bare feet on the furniture. This is not Silversea’s fault, but this is something you would have never seen on a luxury cruise line 20 years ago.

Rickee and I stopped by Arts Cafe on Deck 8 aft and were shocked to find NO chocolate chip cookies. This was the case for the entire cruise. The cookies and other selections here did not change during our 14 days.

Where are the chocolate chip cookies?

This morning, we abandoned Atlantide and decided to have breakfast at La Terrazza. We were able to get a nice table outside. The breakfast here is much better than it was at Atlantide. Perhaps that is why La Terrazza is so popular. As you can see below, I was able to get a decent portion of corned beef hash from the buffet.

You can also order from a menu at La Terrazza. I ordered eggs four different times and all four times the eggs were cooked properly.

As we enjoyed our breakfast at La Terrazza, we could see Mount Fuji in the distance. So, we had to stop to take a few photos.

This afternoon, we attended a lecture by Dr. John Freedman on Japan culture. Silversea does a very good job with guest lecturers and enrichment in general.

We also attended a destination lecture by Shore Concierge Manager, Marisa.

Every afternoon at 4:30, it is time for Team Trivia, conducted by Cruise Director, Adam. Silversea guests take trivia very seriously and each session is very well attended. Rickee and I form our own team of two and we did pretty well. Today, we came in third place out of 11 teams.
