Day Four - Day at Sea

June 7 - Today is a relaxing day at sea aboard Crystal Symphony. We started off the morning in the Galaxy Lounge with a Crystal 35th Anniversary Reunion hosted by Cruise Director, Vicki Van Tassel. Former Crystal Cruises Captain, Helge Brudvik, Captain John Oekland and former Cruise Director Paul McFarland gave the crowd a retrospective trip down memory lane.

Immediately following the Crystal 35th Anniversary Reunion, Kay Burley, a 36-year on-screen reporter for Sky News, conducted a very interesting interview with Geoffrey Kent, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Abercrombie & Kent.

For lunch today, we re-visted the Trident Grill for another Cheeseburger. At 3:15, we visit the Starlight Lounge where Vicki and comedian Mark Palmer hosted Bingo. We have not played Bingo in years, and Rickee won one of the three games played today.

Screens around the ship display all of the daytime activities available on this busy sea day.

For dinner this evening, some friends invited us to join them again at Beefbar. This was our second visit to Beefbar in two days! In addition to Beefbar’s standard offering of steaks, they also offer some Waygu Beef cuts at additional cost.

Tonight we tried some new dishes, including a Kale Salad with Avocado that was delicious.

Last night I tried the NYC Strip, so tonight I thought I would try the Rib Eye. The Rib Eye was more tender, and larger, but not as flavorful as the NYC Strip. I think think the Filet is the best cut and will try that on my next visit to Beefbar.

Desserts at Beefbar offer sweetness along with a beautiful presentation.

Tomorrow, Crystal Symphony will dock in La Spezia, Italy, where we have booked a ship’s excursion “Sarzana & Tasting”.
