SILVERSEA LAUNCHES ITS FIRST INTERNATIONAL TV COMMERCIAL, INVITING CURIOUS TRAVELERS TO OPEN UP TO THE WORLD

image004.png

Iconic photographer Steve McCurry stars as the commercial’s protagonist, channelling the curiosity of Silversea’s guests

(Miami, FL -- September 27, 2021) Leading ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has launched its first international television commercial, inspiring curious travelers to rediscover the world. Part of an integrated, multi-channel advertising campaign that includes print, digital, and social media, the 30-second television spot will appear on major national television networks and streaming platforms in the U.S. and the U.K. from September 27, 2021, before rolling out in markets around the world.

The TV commercial, conceived by Silversea’s Global Creative Director José M. Vuolo, invites curious travelers to rediscover the world with a renewed passion. Silversea collaborator and world-renowned photographer Steve McCurry, whose photographic storytelling embodies guests’ spirit of curiosity, features as the commercial’s protagonist, appealing to viewers to embrace their desire to reconnect with the world’s authentic beauty. From his suite aboard the ultra-luxury Silver Spirit, McCurry pens an open invitation, addressed "To the Curious," in which he writes: "To all of you who have been yearning to travel: It's time. The world is reopening. Open up to the world."

The television commercial focuses on journeys to discover the Earth's "most precious things," which “aren’t things at all.” Captivating photography expresses the beauty that can be found at "the edges of the world"—from mystical mountaintops in Bhutan and the frozen wonderlands of Antarctica to graceful wildlife and untouched ancient cultures. These are the types of places and natural treasures that curious travelers are eager to rediscover as the world reopens, and which Silversea unlocks with its celebrated blend of service excellence and luxurious comfort.

“Silversea is facing its greatest expansion ever,” says Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Commercial Officer. “But this growth coincides with a very peculiar moment in the history of travel. The doors of the world were shut on us; now they’re reopening and it’s our responsibility as the leading ultra-luxury cruise line to reignite our guests’ passion for discovery and let them know it’s time to start exploring again safely, which is perhaps the greatest luxury of all right now. ‘To the curious’ is our mantra and our first international television campaign will appeal to curious travelers around the world. After all, our guests are travelers, not tourists; they collect interactions with people and experiences, not monuments. Curiosity is their common denominator, their driving force. Our television commercial enforces this concept with beautiful insights into the most remarkable destinations around the world. This is complemented by our print campaign, which showcases an especially breathtaking selection of images shot by Steve while he was traveling with us. These images are an invitation, almost, though there is hardly a need for one. People are ready to go.”

José M. Vuolo, Silversea’s Creative Director, says: “Our new ‘To the Curious’ campaign was designed to empower travelers to indulge their passion for travel with new eyes. A born storyteller with the soul of an explorer, Steve McCurry was the perfect subject for the commercial: Steve is a passionate traveler who is encouraged to seek out the world’s most enriching moments – much the same as our guests. Steve’s unique take on the world builds feelings of excitement and hope, marking a new beginning in travel. Steve’s images are honest, captivating, and inspiring, but most importantly they convey the world in its most authentic form. In the same spirit, our new television commercial showcases the near-endless range of enriching experiences that our voyages unlock. With the reopening of the world, our guests have a renewed hunger to travel to new places, immerse themselves into new cultures, and experience new things.”

Steve McCurry is a valued, long-term ambassador of Silversea Cruises. Since the launch of his creative collaboration with the cruise line in 2017, the award-winning photographer has undertaken more than 25 immersive journeys with Silversea, capturing more than 500 images of intriguing cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and unique moments around the globe.

“It felt great to be back on board a Silversea ship again, to film this commercial and to continue our close collaboration as the world reopens,” says Steve McCurry. “My curiosity as a traveler encourages me to journey on; my travels with Silversea offer the chance to dive deep into the world, into the heart of fascinating cultures, wild landscapes, and warm-hearted communities. Silversea’s television commercial will resonate with those who share my passion for discovery.”

The winner of over 40 international awards, celebrated documentary maker Denis Delestrac directed and—in collaboration with ZETA SRL—co-produced Silversea’s television commercial. In 2001, after having worked as a writer and a photographer in France and the U.S., Delestrac switched his career to documentary filmmaking in India, where he first met Steve McCurry – with whom he made his first short documentary. Delestrac has previously worked with Silversea and Steve McCurry on a variety of projects.

For their roles played in the production of the ‘To the Curious’ creative campaign, Silversea would like to extend thanks to Steve McCurry for his special contribution; Jose Vuolo, Creative Director; Denis Delestrac, Director; and TheMonk for creative coordination.

Windstar Cruises’ Reimagined Star Legend Makes Debut in Portugal

Screen Shot 2021-09-27 at 7.09.09 AM.jpg

SEATTLE, WA, September 27, 2021 – U.S. headquartered small ship cruise line Windstar Cruises announces the debut of its all-suite Star Plus Class Star Legend yacht today, sailing from Lisbon on a ten-day voyage to Barcelona stopping at ports including Portimão, Cádiz (overnight), Gibraltar, Málaga (overnight), Cartagena, and Palma de Mallorca.

The line’s three all-suite Star Plus Class yachts (Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride) have been undergoing major transformations, with Star Breeze as the first to launch in June showcasing new suites and expanded outdoor and indoor public spaces. Star Legend is the second of the three yachts to emerge from Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard following the stretch and transformation project. The yachts are also more environmentally friendly with efficient engines, generators, and advanced wastewater treatment systems.

All three yachts increase in maximum capacity from 212 guests to 312 and provide more of what Windstar’s customers want, like additional dining experiences (one is an outdoor barbecue concept with grilling guru Steven Raichlen and the other a Spanish small plates restaurant from Anthony Sasso, one of the youngest chefs to be recognized by the Michelin Guide), a true spa and fitness center, an elegant infinity pool, and more outdoor deck areas. These three all-suite yachts, together with Windstar’s three classic sailing yachts, remain small enough to continue to visit the special small ports and waterways of the world.

Five of the line’s six yachts are now back in the water cruising while requiring vaccines of all passengers and crew amongst a host of health and safety precautions including testing, social distancing, masks, and high-tech air filtration.

MIAMI, September 24, 2021 – Today Crystal Cruises, the World’s Most Awarded Luxury Cruise Line, celebrates its return to cruising from New York City as Crystal Symphony sets sail this evening on her Luxury Bermuda Escapes. The voyage is the first in a series of nine seven-night cruises sailing round-trip from New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal departing every Friday through November 19, 2021. This series follows Crystal Symphony’s Luxury Bermuda Escapes series out of Boston in late August and early September, which earned rave reviews.

“We are delighted to sail once again from New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal, offering our guests the chance to experience Crystal’s unmatched luxury, Michelin-level cuisine and genuine personalized service on voyages close to home,” said Jack Anderson, president of Crystal. “Travelers can enjoy the stunning pink-sand beaches and abundant outdoor pursuits of Bermuda with peace of mind knowing that their health and safety is our number one priority and our comprehensive Crystal Clean+ measures and vaccination requirement assure them a safe and pleasurable trip.”

Crystal Symphony will set sail with all guests and crew fully vaccinated and with Crystal’s guests and crew following all local health guidelines and protocols when visiting Bermuda. Crystal has implemented new Crystal Clean+ protocols that address the unique challenges of COVID-19 with measures that are under continual review based on scientific data and evolving recommendations from local and global authorities. Already boasting one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the industry and nearly twice the space per guest as ships of similar scale, Crystal Symphony is sailing with reduced capacity to offer guests even more social spaciousness. The line has also just announced that it will extend its current vaccine requirement for guests and crew through 2022.

“As the manager of both the Manhattan and Brooklyn Cruise Terminals, NYCEDC has worked closely with federal, state, and local health officials as well as our terminal operator, Ports America, and the cruise lines to ensure all health and safety protocols are met. The health of operations staff, crew, and passengers remain our highest priority,” said New York City Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Rachel Loeb. “At the same time, we are excited to welcome the cruise lines back to New York cruise terminals as a sign of New York City’s recovery. The cruise industry helps generate millions of dollars in tourism revenue across the city, bolstering Broadway, restaurants, museums, and other special events that translate into jobs for New Yorkers.”

All-inclusive fares for Crystal Symphony’s Luxury Bermuda Escapes start at just $1,999 per person when booked by November 3, 2021. Guests wishing to enjoy the diversions of New York City have the option to extend their travels with a pre- or post-cruise hotel stay at The Pierre Hotel a historic 5th Avenue landmark or the Intercontinental New York Times Squarewithin walking distance of the Broadway Theater District, shopping and restaurants. The seamless hotel experience features transfers between the airport and the hotel as well as the hotel and the ship, breakfast daily, complimentary wi-fi and all hotel taxes and fees.

The crystal-clear waters of Bermuda offer endless adventures including reefs and shipwrecks for snorkeling and diving, sport fishing, sailing, kayaking, and more. In Bermuda, Crystal Symphony will dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard, a British stronghold for more than 150 years, now home to historic architecture, shopping, galleries, restaurants, and more. Whether exploring the cobbled streets of the century’s old town and UNESCO World Heritage Site of St. George, biking the scenic Bermuda Railway Trail, or enjoying the pink-sand beaches of Bermuda’s South Shore, guests will encounter endless wonders and stunning natural beauty.

Crystal River Cruises Announces it will Extend Vaccination Requirement Through 2022

Crystal River Cruises becomes the first and only European river ship line to require guest & crew vaccination through 2022

MIAMI, September 20, 2021 – Today Crystal River Cruises announced that it will extend its vaccination requirement for all guests and crew through December 2022. The line’s updated Crystal Clean+ health and safety protocols will continue to require all guests and crew to be fully inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine (with both doses, if recommended by manufacturer) at least 14-days prior to their embarkation date. Guests will need to provide documented proof of vaccination at the time of check-in before boarding the ship. The vaccination requirement allows guests the freedom to explore ashore independently and facilitates smooth, hassle-free travel across multi-country itineraries.

“The health and safety of our guests and crew is paramount to everything we do at Crystal River Cruises, and as such, we will require full vaccination through 2022 so that our guests can continue to explore the world in great comfort and safety,” said Walter Littlejohn, Crystal River Cruises’ senior vice president and managing director. “After months of planning and preparation we welcomed guests back on board in late August and the feedback has been wonderful. Extending the vaccination requirement provides our guests with the health and safety information and assurances they need to plan future travels.”

Crystal continues to be a leader in its proactive response to COVID-19 with protocols based on the latest data and recommendations by health experts. The vaccine requirement augments the company’s comprehensive Crystal Clean+ measures, including COVID-19 tests at embarkation for both guests and crew, temperature checks when returning from ashore, a nimble mask policy, social distancing guidelines, enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures and more. Additionally, Crystal River Cruises’ crew are also currently wearing masks in all public areas to provide yet another layer of guest protection.

Spacious by design, Crystal River Cruises’ all-suite river ships allow for ample social distancing, accommodating just half as many guests as similarly sized vessels and offering an abundance of tables for two in its a la carte restaurants, where guests dine when and with whom they want.  Additionally, fresh air ventilation systems ensure all guest suites and public areas feature fresh circulating air.

Crystal’s award-winning Rhine-Class River ships accommodate just 106 guests and are the river cruising industry’s first and only all-balcony, all-suite, all-butler vessels in Europe, with every category of accommodation positioned above the water line.  All suites feature Panoramic Balcony-Windows™ and walk-in closets, and dual vanity in the bathrooms are featured in most categories.

Sister-ship Crystal Mozart is Europe’s most spacious river ship at twice the width of any other and carrying just 120 guests. Known as the “Queen of the Danube,” Crystal Mozart offers an unrivalled number of social spaces, restaurants and the largest spa on the rivers.

Recognized as The World’s Most Luxurious River Cruise Line™, Crystal River Cruises is distinguished by unrivalled service, with twice the number of crew per guest as industry average, butler service in every room category, king-sized beds, Caudalie amenities, robes and slippers, wall-mounted flat-screen HD TVs, and 24-hour room service. Crystal River Cruises’ unrivaled culinary farm-to-table experience features Michelin-level cuisine in multiple, open-seating eateries: the elegant Waterside Restaurant, namesake Bistro cafés and the exclusive Vintage Room; as well as the Palm Court for entertainment, enrichment presentations and sweeping views of the countryside. Crystal’s attention to detail reaches ashore, as guests are transported on the days’ adventures in luxury motor coaches equipped with complimentary water and Wi-Fi for added convenience and comfort and carrying 30 percent fewer guests of coaches the same size.

Every Crystal River voyage invites guests to explore the destinations in ways most meaningful to them, with a collection of Crystal Destination Discoveries that are tailored to particular interests. Most are complimentary, while others offer more extravagant experiences, focusing on the culinary, cultural, exhilarating and personal sides of each locale.

NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 19, 2021) – Carnival Glory is set to depart on a seven-day cruise from the Port of New Orleans this afternoon marking the first sailing from the city since the industry-wide pause in operations 18 months ago.

Carnival Glory’s voyage from the Erato Street Cruise Terminal includes visits to three popular Bahamian destinations: Bimini, Freeport and Nassau.

To commemorate the occasion, a “Back to Fun” event was held in the terminal during which Carnival’s Vice President of Guest Operations Sarah Beth Reno, Carnival Glory Captain Nicola Iaccarino and Port of New Orleans President and CEO Brandy D. Christian cut the ceremonial ribbon and officially welcomed the first guests on board.

Private Charter Jet Service Establishes Safety Bubble in U.S. for Once-in-a-lifetime Expedition

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA., Sept. 16, 2021 – Atlas Ocean Voyages announced today that the luxe-adventure cruise brand will proceed with the inaugural Antarctica season for its first all-inclusive, luxury expedition ship, World Navigator. From Nov. 2021 through Mar. 2022, World Navigator will sail nine- and 12-night Antarctica expeditions, departing round-trip from Ushuaia, Argentina. World Navigator guests will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to the Southern Continent and witness penguins, seals, walruses, whales and large sea birds and awe at the unspoiled landscape and towering icebergs. Innovating Antarctica expeditions, Atlas has chartered its own private jet to bring guests directly to Ushuaia to embark the ship. As part of its All Inclusive All the Way commitment, Atlas’ complimentary private charter jet service shortens the travel time it takes for guests to reach and return from Ushuaia and avoids overnights and extended layovers in an international airport, which are common with commercial flights. As required by the Argentinian authorities, all guests and crew are vaccinated on Atlas’ Antarctica expeditions. For more information about World Navigator’s inaugural Antarctica season, please visit www.AtlasOceanVoyages.com.

“We are happy to proceed with World Navigator’sinaugural Antarctica season as planned,” said Alberto Aliberti, President of Atlas Ocean Voyages. “As the first cruise line to offer private charter jet service, Atlas is establishing a safety bubble in the U.S. and safely flying guests directly to World Navigator in Ushuaia. The benefits of our private charter jet service combined with our proven safety and hygiene protocols were instrumental in clearing our operations from Ushuaia. This innovation is part of Atlas’ All Inclusive All the Way, in which we take care of the details and make it more convenient, seamless and safe for our guests.”

Aboard World Navigator’s Antarctica expeditions, guests can visit places such as Neko Harbour; Deception Island’s caldera; and Brown Bluff at the northern tip of the peninsula. The November 28, 2021, journey will bring guests within the umbra of the Moon on December 4, for a rare, Antarctic solar eclipse, while the February 2, 2022, departure features a crossing into the Antarctic Circle in pursuit of marine wildlife-spotting. Guests will enjoy being closer to the waterline to sight Antarctic marine wildlife from World Navigator’s Water’s Edge Lookout, the lowest ship’s observation bow in the industry and the only one with wrap-around, heated benches for extended time out on deck.

Atlas’ signature All Inclusive All The Way provides all guests a complete and seamless experience by including complimentary round-trip air travel, unlimited premium wine and spirits, international beers and coffees, prepaid gratuities, polar parkas, regionally inspired gourmet cuisine, emergency medical evacuation insurance, WiFi and L’OCCITANE bath amenities. In every stateroom, guests enjoy robes, slippers and binoculars to use throughout the voyage, personalized coffee, teas and bar service, and butler service in suites.
