CARNIVAL PRIDE SETS SAIL ON FIRST CRUISE FROM PORT OF BALTIMORE

BTF Baltimore1.jpg

Seven-Day Cruise to the Bahamas Is First From Baltimore Since Industry-Wide Pause in Operations

BALTIMORE (Sept. 12, 2021) – Carnival Cruise Line is the first cruise line to set sail from the Port of Baltimore since the industry-wide pause in operations.  Carnival Pride is set to depart today on a seven-day cruise to The Bahamas, visiting the popular destinations of Nassau, Freeport and the private island of Half Moon Cay.

Prior to departure, a “Back to Fun” event was held in the terminal during which Carnival President Christine Duffy, Carnival Pride Captain Maurizio Ruggiero and Port of Baltimore Executive Director William P. Doyle cut the ceremonial ribbon and officially welcomed the first guests on board.

“We’re thrilled to be back in Baltimore, providing our guests with the relaxing vacation they’ve been so patiently waiting for but also supporting the local economy and offering  our crew members an opportunity to support their families back home,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “Baltimore has been a wonderful partner for more than a decade and we are delighted to get Back to Fun in this key market which serves hundreds of thousands of guests in the Northeast and along the Atlantic Coast.”

“What a great day for the Port of Baltimore!” said Port of Baltimore Executive Director William P. Doyle. “We have waited a long time to welcome back the Carnival Pride to Charm City.  Baltimore’s Cruise Maryland is terrific -- our cruise terminal is directly off Interstate 95 and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is only 15 minutes away.  The cruise terminal sits alongside Baltimore’s world famous Inner Harbor, as well as Federal Hill, Fort McHenry, and Fells Point.  There’s plenty of sightseeing, dining, and shopping options.  So cruise from Baltimore, enjoy our great city, and sail to some of the most incredible tropical paradises in the world.”

Carnival Cruise Line launched the first year-round cruise program from Baltimore in 2009 and since then has carried well over one million guests, making Carnival the number one cruise operator from the port.

In November, a newer ship, Carnival Legend, will replace Carnival Pride in Baltimore when Carnival Pride shifts to departures from Tampa.

Carnival offers the widest array of cruise options from Baltimore, including:

  • Six- and seven-day sailings to Bermuda and The Bahamas

  • Eight-day voyages to Canada/New England and the Caribbean

  • 14-day Carnival Journeys sailings to the Panama Canal and the exotic southern Caribbean.

  • A Carnival Sailabration voyage aboard Carnival Legend in March 2022 with special onboard activities and entertainment in conjunction with Carnival Cruise Line’s 50thBirthday festivities.

Carnival’s operational protocols exceed the recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  For more information on our protocols, click here.

Crystal Cruises Announces 2022 Grand Voyage, 132-Night Ocean Odyssey on Crystal Serenity

2022-Grand-Voyage Map.jpg

2022 Grand Voyage Caribbean Idylls & Mediterranean Masterpieces redesign of previously scheduled 2022 World Cruise

MIAMI, September 9, 2021 – Today Crystal Cruises unveiled its 2022 Grand Voyage, Caribbean Idylls & Mediterranean Masterpieces, a 132-night, ocean-spanning odyssey on Crystal Serenity from Miami to Los Angeles, January 17 – May 29, 2022. The expansive, destination-rich itinerary calls upon 82 ports in 32 countries and includes 11 overnights in some of the world’s most iconic cities including Istanbul, Monte Carlo, Naples and Cannes, as well as the exclusive island enclaves of St. Barts, Madeira, the Canary Islands and more.  Rarely repeating a port of call, the 2022 Grand Voyage allows guests to indulge their wanderlust with new destinations and in-depth explorations of each region. This new Grand Voyage replaces the line’s 2022 World Cruise, which was canceled because many countries on the original itinerary remain uncertain in their ability to welcome guests back at this time.

“Our guests are extremely seasoned travelers who crave worldwide discovery, cultural immersion and the allure of exotic global destinations,” said Jack Anderson, president of Crystal. “This expansive 2022 Grand Voyage has been artfully crafted to showcase rare ports of call and unique experiences that offer our guests a new twist on even the most well-loved destinations, while inviting them to enjoy the indulgences of Michelin-level cuisine, personalized service, unmatched spaciousness and luxurious all-inclusive amenities and comforts that remain the hallmarks of the Crystal Experience.

“We know our guests, especially our extended voyage guests, consider Crystal their second home and that both our guests and crew are part of one large Crystal family. Captain Birger Vorland and his crew are excited to welcome these guests back home to Crystal since having said goodbye to the World Cruise guests in Perth last year,” Anderson continued.

The 2022 Grand Voyage’s curated 132-night itinerary was designed for travelers with a pent-up desire for longer cruise vacations, while also offering those with more limited time for globetrotting the option to choose from 11 cruise segments ranging from nine to 16-nights - perfect for today’s busy luxury traveler. With unique itineraries for each voyage segment and featured destinations including the Caribbean, Morocco, the Cote d’Azur, the Amalfi Coast, the Greek Isles, the Black Sea, the Holy Land and more, the options to create customized combinations for regional exploration are virtually endless. Reservations for the 2022 Grand Voyage will be open to 2022 World Cruise booked guests for an exclusive 10-day booking window from September 14 - 23 and to the public on September 24, 2021.

Palma-de-Mallorca_spain.jpeg

A standout feature of the 2022 Grand Voyage is the number of islands on the itinerary, 45 in total, including 19 calls in the Caribbean, and a rare immersive exploration of the Canary Islands with calls in six out of seven of the main islands and an overnight call in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Other island explorations include the Cape Verde Islands, the Azores, Madeira, Gibraltar, the Balearic Isles, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Crete, Cyprus, the Greek Isles and Bermuda.

Collectors of rare port experiences will enjoy several seldom visited ports of call showcasing incredible natural beauty and fascinating history including San Blas Islands, Panama; St. Croix, USVI; Ile des Saints, Guadeloupe; Cagliari, Sardinia; Praia and Santo Antão, Cape Verde Islands; Gaeta, Italy; Syracuse, Sicily and more.

Port-rich trans-Atlantic crossings, an abundance of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a transit of the Panama Canal, and explorations of ancient empires, legendary art, magnificent architecture and natural wonders round out this all-encompassing grand ocean voyage.

Caribbean Idylls & Mediterranean Masterpieces departs Miami on January 17, 2022, bound for the warmth of the Caribbean on voyages exploring aquamarine waters, lush landscapes and cultural riches from the ABC isles of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao to the eco-wonders of Costa Rica. Designed to follow the sun and the seasons the 2022 Grand Voyage offers guests the chance to enjoy the best weather of each destination from the sun-washed shores and balmy breezes of winter in the Caribbean to the welcoming climate of the Canary Islands, springtime in the Mediterranean and beyond.

When Crystal Serenity sets sail on the 2022 Grand Voyage, all guests (who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine) will be fully vaccinated as a requirement of the company’s Crystal Clean+ protocols, established in response to COVID-19. Guests 12 and older must be fully inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to departure for all 2022 Ocean voyages including those guests embarking in Miami. One hundred percent of Crystal’s officers and crew fleetwide will continue to be vaccinated in 2022 as a requirement for employment.

A leader in unrivaled luxury cruising for 30 years, Crystal Cruises distinguishes its ships and its voyages with fine details and nuances that make a big impact for discerning travelers. The all-inclusive experience features award-winning entertainment; diverse enrichment options; globally inspired dining, including Nobu Matsuhisa’s only seagoing restaurants; unlimited pours of fine wines, beers and premium spirits and an unwavering standard of genuine, personal service for each guest.

(Miami, FL -- September 8, 2021) Silversea Cruises, the leading ultra-luxury cruise line, has reached an agreement with the Chilean authorities to depart from Punta Arenas for its 2021-2022 Antarctica season, leading the return of Antarctica travel. Silver Cloud and Silver Wind will set sail from Punta Arenas, while the line's third Antarctica-bound ship, Silver Explorer, will continue with its scheduled plan to depart from Chile's Puerto Williams from November 2021.

"Leading the return of cruising in Antarctica, as facilitated by our agreement with the Chilean government, represents our commitment to delivering unforgettable travel experiences for our guests,” says Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s President and CEO. “I commend the Chilean government for its unwavering dedication to restarting cruising to the White Continent in a safe and enriching manner.”

"Thanks to our unique destination expertise, we are able to lead the return to cruising in Antarctica with the precious addition of Punta Arenas as a departure port, says Conrad Combrink, Silversea's Senior Vice President of Expeditions, Turnaround Operations and Destination Management. “We commend the Chilean authorities for their collaborative approach and we look forward to building a long-term partnership for an enhanced guest experience. Chile is a fantastic gateway with a stable infrastructure and excellent services. From here, our guests can discover the unique allure of the Final Continent in luxurious comfort. With four ships already sailing in other regions of the world, we have demonstrated our commitment to delivering unforgettable travel experiences for our guests in the safest possible manner.”

Enjoying the most inclusive Antarctica package in ultra-luxury cruising, guests of Silver Cloud and Silver Wind will now fly into Santiago, Chile, where they will enjoy an overnight hotel stay before flying into Punta Arenas the next day to embark the ship. Guests embarking Silver Explorer will do so in Puerto Williams, Chile – except those benefitting from Silversea's Antarctica Bridge, the first ultra-luxury fly-cruise service to Antarctica, which will see travelers fly directly from Punta Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica.

Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, and Silver Explorer will provide unrivaled opportunities for travelers to discover the enchanting wildlife and icescapes of this remote wonderland in the cruise line's signature standard of comfort. Each all-suite, butler-serviced ship carries a team of expedition experts who lead immersive shore excursions for guests. These passionate and knowledgeable professionals offer informative lectures, discussions, recaps on board, guided explorations by Zodiac® and kayak, and immersive hikes and nature walks ashore -- all of which are included in the fare.

Silversea's expansive Antarctica cruise collection includes a series of mostly 10-day explorations of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, as well as shorter sailings of just 5, 6 or 9 days as part of the Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program. Longer journeys encompass the Antarctic Peninsula, South Shetland Islands, Falkland Islands, Elephant Island and South Georgia. Two ‘Deep Antarctica’ itineraries will spend 20 days tracing a path beyond the Antarctic Circle, attempting to reach a latitude of 69 degrees south. Plus, two unique sailings will offer guests the chance to witness the solar eclipse on December 4, 2021, from Antarctica – the only place on Earth where it can be viewed in totality.

Tauck Requiring Vaccinations on All Tours and Cruises

Policy Already Implemented Successfully Throughout Europe

WILTON, CT (September 8, 2021) Expanding a policy implemented earlier this year on its European tours and cruises, Tauck will now require all guests ages 12 and over to present proof of being fully vaccinated at the start of their trip. The expanded vaccination requirement was instituted on September 7, 2021, and applies to all of Tauck’s tours and cruises worldwide.

According to Jeremy Palmer, Tauck’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, the move comes as entry requirements have been evolving rapidly around the world. “We’re seeing a steady increase in restaurants, museums and attractions requiring proof of vaccination,” said Palmer, “to the point where unvaccinated travelers won’t be able to fully participate in their Tauck journeys. It’s become clear that a universal vaccination requirement is the best way to ensure our guests enjoy all of the incredible experiences we build into our tours and cruises.

Palmer added that over the past few months Tauck has safely hosted thousands of Tauck guests on more than 80 itineraries around the globe, earning high guest-satisfaction scores along the way. He also anticipated that the company’s customers – 97% of whom are already vaccinated – would appreciate the simplicity of the new policy.

Tauck paused its operations due to Covid in March, 2020, and began hosting guests again in January and February of this year on several departures of its “Wonderland: Yellowstone in Winter” itinerary. In the months since, Tauck has successfully resumed operating its tours and cruises in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Latin America and elsewhere.

Guests who are impacted by the policy change may take advantage of Tauck’s 2021 Flexible Booking Policy, which waives all change penalties when their booking is transferred to another Tauck trip operating in 2021 or 2022. Information on Tauck’s policies is available on their Travel Updates page on the company’s website.

CLEARING UP CONFUSION OVER THE EU’S RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT

At the same time that Tauck was revising its vaccination policy, it was also busy reaching out to its network of travel advisor partners to clear up the considerable confusion regarding the EU’s removal of the U.S. from its “Safe Travel” list. While the EU suggested that its member nations prohibit non-essential visits by American travelers, Tauck noted in an email to its travel advisor partners that the EU’s action was merely a recommendation and that each EU member is free to set its own policies. The email, written by Steve Spivak, Tauck’s Vice President of Global Sales and Partner Relations, emphasized that “the EU has no authority to require that countries restrict entry to travelers from the U.S.”

The email also took issue with how the EU announcement was sometimes distorted in press reports, and stressed the need for Tauck and its travel advisor partners to stay fully informed. “In light of the broad misunderstanding of this development in Europe, and the misinformation being disseminated,” the email read, “it is incumbent on all of us to serve our clients and our industry, by confidently sharing facts and information that are grounded in reality.”

Having a trusted source for accurate information can foster peace of mind in uncertain times, noted Palmer, who also urged travelers today to be prepared and stay flexible. “Being prepared can be as simple as keeping proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test result handy,” said Palmer, “and traveling with a reputable tour operator like Tauck is a great way to stay flexible and ensure you’re never alone. We have knowledge and resources far beyond the scope of an independent traveler, and we stand ready to support and assist in a hundred different ways should any need arise.”
