Day 8 - At Sea

Today is our second day at sea in a row and we wanted to take some time to recognize the people who have made this cruise enjoyable. Ayan Mulla (below) is our assistant stateroom attendant and has been doing an excellent job, along with Deviana, of keeping our stateroom shipshape. When we leave our room in the morning for breakfast, our room is ready by the time we return.

For lunch today, we head to The Galley and it is time to conduct my cheeseburger test. After struggling to find a place to sit, we raise the Ahoy flag on the table and a waiter stopped by to take our order. Within a few minutes, my cheeseburger with fries arrived.

The burger is pretty much as I remembered from Scarlet Lady in 2023. The sesame seed bun is the same soft, fresh bun as before. The meat patty was well cooked, but not overcooked. There was a hint of pink in the middle of the patty, which I prefer. The cheese was melted, as it should be. The only difference is the addition of a few raw onions along with the tomato and lettuce, which I really appreciate. The pickle spear has disappeared, however.

Rickee swears the French Fries are different, and maybe they are. They appear to be coated in corn starch or something that adds some crispiness. Rickee is not a fan. For me, I thought they were great. As long as the fries are hot and crisp, I am a fan.

This evening, we head to the Red Room to attend our first production show of the cruise: Red Hot.

The show, Red Hot, is very well conceived, produced and performed. The show featured two vocalists and nine dancers. Both vocalists were excellent and the dance routines were very well executed. The stage and set design relies heavily on a large LED backdrop which displays images and video clips throughout the show. Many cruise lines now have gone in this direction.

All of the music is pre-recorded with no backup from live musicians. That said, the theater has excellent acoustics and sound system. All of the technical parts of the show were spot on. Lighting and special effects were perfect. I should also mention the impressive number of costume changes during the show. Rickee claims it was one of the best shows she has ever seen on a ship.

Tomorrow, Brilliant Lady will be in Victoria, British Columbia. Our cruise is rapidly coming to a close.
