November 29, 2018 - Today, Silver Spirit is sailing to Grand Turk, giving us a whole day at sea to relax and enjoy this recently stretched ship. A morning lecture with Dr. William Crowley on "The Caribbean Islands: British?, French?, Dutch?, Spanish? or What???" was a very interesting look at the history of how the Caribbean islands have been ruled over the last few hundred years.
As soon as Dr. Crowley's lecture was finished, the Venetian Lounge stage was set up for a cooking demonstration by Executive Chef, Grant Chilcott.
Chef Chilcott showed us how to make Thai Fish Cakes and a Vietnamese Beef Tartare. After the demonstration, guests were invited up on stage to taste the dishes. Both were delicious.
After the cooking demonstration, it was time for lunch. Today, we decided to visit La Terrazza, Silver Spirit's buffet lunch restaurant on Deck 7 aft. La Terrazza is one of the nicest buffet restaurants you will find on any ship. The layout of the food serving stations prevents long lines from forming. Unique hand-washing stations are located just before you enter the serving line.
La Terrazza always offers a wide variety of dishes and there is a daily pasta-made-to-order station as well as a stir-fry station. We will go into more detail on La Terrazza in our final review. After a delicious lunch, it was time to relax and enjoy our Superior Verandah Suite and the large balcony.
This evening, we decided to enjoy a cocktail in our favorite new spot on Silver Spirit, The Arts Cafe. The Arts Cafe was added to Deck 8 aft as part of the recent ship lengthening project. This is a space we really enjoyed on Silver Muse last year, and I think Arts Cafe on Spirit is even nicer.
In the evenings, Arts Cafe offers a selection of creative canapés to enjoy with your favorite cocktail. Yes, there is a full-service bar here. It is quiet here tonight, so this is a beautiful place to enjoy a drink. There is an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy The Arts Cafe and the ocean at the same time, too.
