Day 09 - County Fair
April 2, 2019 - Today is our favorite day at sea on a transatlantic crossing, on a Regent cruise at least. That's because it is County Fair day! The County Fair is normally held on the pool deck but, because of wind and weather conditions, the Atrium has been transformed into the fairground. Each department on the ship has its own booth where guests can play a game to earn prize tickets which will be entered in a raffle drawing at the end of the Fair for some great prizes.
My favorite game was from the Entertainment Department, where a rope with rubber balls is stuffed into your pants and you had to swing the balls to knock down bowling pins. Below, you can see Rickee using her skills to knock down the pin and eventually smoke the competition! It was hilarious.
Every department had its own unique and equally fun game. At one point, a flash mob broke out dancing to Mama Mia. It was insane! And, everyone had a great time and many won some nice gift bags with their winning tickets.
After the County Fair, we had lunch at the Pool Grill. Rickee ordered a hot dog from the menu and I had a cheeseburger.
At 4pm, we treated ourselves to Afternoon Tea in the Observation Lounge. Today was Cupcake Tea Time and Remy, the Pastry Chef on board Explorer, has created several flavors of cupcakes for guests to enjoy.
We ended the day with another amazing performance by Jenene Caramielo in the Constellation Theater. Her vocals are some of the best we have ever heard on a cruise ship or anywhere for that matter.
Tomorrow, we will be docking in Horta, Azores (Portugal).
