Day 8 - Disembarkation

This morning, MSC Seascape sailed through the heaviest fog we have ever seen as she made her way back to the Port of Galveston, Texas. By the time we docked, the fog had lifted, but heavy thunderstorms and pouring rain would soon welcome us back to Texas.

The parking garage, at Terminal 16, as seen from our balcony, had a surprising number of unused parking spaces. The two upper levels of the garage were nearly empty, leading us to believe that this sailing was not full.

Traditionally, we like to have breakfast before we disembark a ship. Usually, this means a trip to the MDR for breakfast, but since we have exclusive access to the MSC Yacht Club restaurant, we decided to have breakfast there. After all, the restaurant is just a few steps from our suite.

This breakfast was a real disappointment. I ordered the waffles with a side of bacon. I was shocked when they placed what looked like two Eggo frozen waffles in front of me! The waffles were cold and tough. I asked the waiter to take them away and replace them with three eggs cooked over medium.

Eggo waffles?

When I received my eggs, they were overcooked. In fact, they were almost burned. This breakfast was not a great last memory of the MSC Yacht Club experience to take home with us. By the way, Rickee ordered the pancakes, and they were as cold and disappointing as my waffles.

After we choked down the breakfast, we returned to our suite to gather our rolling luggage. Our butler was nearby and offered to escort us off of the ship. He was able to walk us by all of the lines of people trying to disembark. He took us into express elevators that were uncrowded and, before we knew it, we were scanning our key cards, exiting the vessel and entering the terminal building. It was the quickest and easiest disembarkation we have ever experienced on a ship this size.

We exited the cruise terminal and were greeted with a heavy downpour of rain. Fortunately, the walkway to the parking garage was covered. This ends our week aboard the MSC Yacht Club on MSC Seascape. Make sure you check out our review video (see below).
