Four Nights in Tokyo
When we began planning our Ultimate Luxury Japan trip, it was a very easy decision when it came time to select a hotel for our four nights in Tokyo. In our opinion, no other hotel chain does luxury as well as Four Seasons. We booked our room through Chase Sapphire Reserve’s EDIT program which included free daily breakfast for two ($100 value/day), a $100 property credit for dining or spa services, a complimentary room upgrade (if available), a welcome amenity, and late checkout.
The luxury experience began as soon as we arrived at the hotel in our Blacklane private car transfer from Haneda Airport. We were greeted as soon as we exited the vehicle, and our hand luggage was taken from us for delivery to our room. We were escorted to the 39th floor of the Otemachi One building to the hotel’s reception desk.
At reception, we checked in and Rickee inquired about having her prescription eyedrops kept frozen during our stay. She had already pre-arranged for this with the hotel Concierge a couple of weeks before we left for Japan. The front desk personnel took her eyedrops and assured her they would be kept safe and frozen until our departure. The service at this property is excellent.
We were informed that we had been upgraded to a Skyline Suite thanks to our EDIT privileges. The Reception staff also confirmed that we would receive complimentary breakfast each day and the $100 property credit. We were then escorted down to the 35th floor and shown our Skyline Suite (the hotel occupies the 34th through 39th floors). As we expected, the room was beautiful, modern and expertly appointed.

After a 15-hour flight, and a 14-hour time difference, all we could think about was getting some much needed sleep. Thankfully, the bed was as comfortable as we remembered from previous Four Seasons’ stays. A beautiful welcome amenity was left for us to enjoy something sweet before retiring.
Welcome amenity
Our room was very quiet with no annoying sounds coming from adjacent rooms or from the hallway. After a good night’s sleep, we had more time to check out the massive two-sink bathroom. We quickly became spoiled by the TOTO Japanese toilet. This thing does everything except…wait, it even does that! I tried to figure out a way to unbolt the thing from the floor so we could take it home with us, but unfortunately, it won’t fit in the overhead bin on the airplane.
In the hotel lobby on the 39th floor, they have an automatic coffee machine with complimentary coffee (and teas) available 24 hours a day. They even have some complimentary muffins and pastries in little “to go” bags. Metal cans of mineral water are also available here. This was important for me since I get up early and work on my computer while Rickee sleeps in, or is getting ready for the day.
Complimentary coffee and sweets
Tables in the bar area adjacent to the coffee machine make a perfect work space with amazing views of the Tokyo skyline. The complimentary WiFi in the hotel is the fastest I have used in any hotel.
Great early morning workspace
As mentioned earlier, our EDIT booking included complimentary breakfast at Pigneto Restaurant. They offer an expansive breakfast buffet along with a nice menu of items cooked to order. Service is top notch.

The poached eggs for Rickee’s Eggs Benedict and my Avocado Toast were cooked perfectly. I don’t know why, but poached eggs seem to be one of the hardest things to get right. Four Seasons gets it right.

We took a short tour of the spa and the full-size heated swimming pool. This is perfect for those who want to get a few laps in before or after breakfast.

We decided to use our $100 property credit towards the cost of Afternoon Tea for two. The tea service is semi-formal and served in The Lounge on the 39th floor. The Afternoon Tea menu changes seasonally, and the selection we were brought was probably not our favorite. It was very “sweets forward” with only a couple of savory offerings. And, no traditional scones. Nevertheless, it was beautifully presented and all of the items were expertly crafted and delicious. The cost was about $60 per person.

I should mention that Pigneto also has a beautiful outdoor patio for al fresco dining. In the evenings, Pigneto becomes an Italian restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights at Four Seasons Tokyo at Otemachi. If you are looking for a luxury stay in Tokyo, it would be hard to find a better option.
