Four Seasons Gresham Palace - Budapest

In 2004, Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest made its debut as one of the newest historic treasures in the company’s European portfolio[end]. Located on the banks of the Danube River at the foot of the Chain Bridge, the property is the rebirth of the city’s century-old Gresham Palace, acclaimed as one of the world’s finest Art Nouveau buildings with its soaring winter gardens, grand staircases, stained glass, mosaics and ironwork. After a two year $110-million restoration, the 179-room hotel is a dedicated historical landmark that combines the luxurious comforts of the 21st century with the elegance of the past. A spa and fitness center, an indoor pool, the café and restaurant, the Bar and Lobby Lounge and meeting space round out the guest experience.

We spent a glorious evening at this property as a pre-cruise stay before embarking Viking River Cruises' Viking Hlin for a Christmas Markets cruise. Our 'river-view' room on the 4th floor overlooked the entrance to the famous Chain Bridge. We highly recommend requesting a 'river view' room when booking a stay at the Four Seasons Gresham. A small step-out balcony was the perfect spot for photo taking. As we have come to expect from Four Seasons, the room was beautifully appointed. The bed was amazing, with top-quality linens and comfy pillows. The large bathroom has a separate tub and shower and L'Occitane amenities are provided. At turndown, a bottle of water was left on each bedside table along with a cookie. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Gresham restaurant. There is no better way to begin or end a cruise vacation than with a stay at a Four Seasons.
