ROYAL CARIBBEAN OFFICIALLY NAMES THE WORLD’S NEWEST WONDER, WONDER OF THE SEAS

The Celebration in Port Canaveral, Florida, Honors a Mother from Pennsylvania as the Godmother of the New Ship

MIAMI, Dec. 10, 2022 – A celebration fit for the world’s newest wonder lit up Port Canaveral, Florida, last night when Royal Caribbean International officially welcomed Wonder of the Seas into the family. With the ultimate combination of firsts and signature favorites for parents, kids and grandparents alike, the cruise line’s latest ship was named by its Godmother and Wonder Mom Marie McCrea from Pennsylvania. The evening ceremony also marked the start of a new chapter for Wonder as it makes waves as Port Canaveral’s new, year-round family vacation.

Royal Caribbean executives and teams, families, friends, travel advisors, the cruise line’s partners and more came together on board the world’s largest cruise ship to celebrate the occasion in one of the brand’s unparalleled entertainment venues, the AquaTheater. In the time-honored role of Godmother, Marie bestowed a blessing of safekeeping on Wonder, its crew and the millions of families who will make lifelong memories on board in the years to come. On stage with Marie were Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, and her daughter, Allie, who nominated her mother for the role as part of a nationwide search started by Royal Caribbean on Mother’s Day.

Wonder of the Seas exemplifies Royal Caribbean Group’s focus on unparalleled innovation, sustainable cruise ship design and our commitment to delivering world-class, memorable vacations, responsibly,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “This milestone represents the culmination of millions of hours of work, from the most innovative minds in the industry, to deliver the world’s latest wonder.”

Designed for memory-making from end to end, Wonder inspires awe and adventure in kids and vacationers of all ages with feats and experiences across eight neighborhoods – a first in the revolutionary Oasis Class. To find the Godmother to match, Royal Caribbean took to TikTok and launched the #SearchforWonderMom contest, which saw 16,000 videos posted and 10.6 billion hashtag views.

The search was complete when the cruise line heard Marie’s story, one of a devoted mother, wife and cancer survivor whose spirit inspired her family and those around her to set out on adventures and enjoy every moment together despite the hardships they faced.

“It was an honor to officially welcome Marie and Wonder of the Seas to the Royal Caribbean family,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Marie’s story is one of incredible strength and family memories to last a lifetime, and those are the types of memories we’ve committed to creating with our guests and crew on every Royal Caribbean ship for more than 53 years. Wonder is the adventure of all adventures that combines what families know and love on our revolutionary Oasis Class ships with brand-new experiences, and it’s already delivered memorable vacations to more than 180,500 guests since first setting sail in March.”

The latest in Royal Caribbean’s revolutionary Oasis Class features a lineup of new adventures and fan-favorite experiences that everyone in the family can enjoy. Highlights include the Suite Neighborhood, the new, eighth neighborhood that welcomes Royal Suite Class guests to an elevated Suite Sun Deck with a plunge pool and bar, the most epic Ultimate Family Suite and more; the first Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar that serves up Southern staples and classics with a twist for brunch, dinner and late at night; and a new, underwater-themed play area for kids, Wonder Playscape, with slides, climbing walls, imaginative puzzles and more.

“Carrying out my role as Godmother and a part of such an important moment for Royal Caribbean and Wonder of the Seas was an honor,” said Marie McCrea, Godmother of Wonder of the Seas. “Having my family by my side to celebrate this incredible ship was yet another memory we’ve made together – and with our new Royal Caribbean family – that I’ll never forget.”

From more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges to returning favorites, on Wonder, travelers also have in store The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; the FlowRider surf simulator; rock climbing wallsThe Perfect Storm racing waterslides; newly designed areas just for kids and teens; and original entertainment across four “stages”: air, ice, theater and water.

SHIPBUILDER NOTIFIES CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE THAT  CARNIVAL JUBILEE DELIVERY WILL BE DELAYED

First Cruise Will Now Be from Galveston on Dec. 23, 2023

MIAMI, Dec. 9, 2022 – Carnival Cruise Line today notified guests booked on the first six cruises of Carnival Jubilee that because of shipyard delays, delivery of the ship has been postponed and the first cruise will now be the Dec. 23, 2023 embarkation from Galveston, Tex.

Carnival Jubilee is under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Meyer has notified Carnival that due to supply chain logistics and related matters, the October 2023 delivery date has been re-set for early December 2023. Carnival Jubilee will then transit directly to Galveston to operate the first guest cruise for the Christmas holiday, departing on Dec. 23, 2023.

Guests and travel advisors have been notified of the change. In total, the original Oct. 30, 2023 transatlantic journey from Southampton, UK to Galveston, and then five Caribbean sailings from Galveston have been cancelled.

“This is disappointing news, but with the notification from the shipyard, we are advising our guests as quickly as we can,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We appreciate their understanding as we work to deliver another spectacular ship that will provide a vacation experience our guests deserve and will absolutely love.”

CARNIVAL CELEBRATION INTRODUCES NEW ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES AHEAD OF FULL FLEET DEBUT

Teens may take part in an authentic tea ceremony

New Enrichment Programs for Children and Teens, Plus Updated Dr. Seuss Bookville Among Additions to Carnival’s Popular Youth Programming

MIAMI, Dec. 7, 2022 – Carnival Celebration is introducing an expanded youth program including new enrichment activities for children, teens and families, as well as an update to Carnival’s popular Dr. Seuss Bookville. Many of the new offerings will be implemented fleetwide by spring 2023.

“The updates we’re making to our youth programming ensure our young cruisers have even more to be excited about when they come aboard. We’ve already seen early success with our launch on Carnival Celebration, and I’m looking forward to expanding the reach of our new additions to families sailing with us across our fleet,” said Melissa Mahaffey, director of youth experience for Carnival Cruise Line.

New Turtles Program, Updated Dr. Seuss Bookville Engages and Entertains Young Children

Carnival Celebration debuted the most expansive offerings to date for Carnival’s youngest guests, children under the age of two, with a new Turtles program. The new program introduces an array of special activities, including Turtle Playdates, Turtle Band, toddler sensory activities, and Baby Turtle Trek – an interactive event featuring fun facts about sea turtle conservation, which welcomes toddlers to reenact the journey of a baby sea turtle’s development as they crawl on a custom-made ocean mat to their cheering family on the other side. The program also offers designated drop-off time in Camp Ocean and late-night babysitting.

The Nautical Explorer program creates an opportunity for children in Camp Ocean to participate in exciting, maritime-themed activities to learn nautical knowledge and earn their seafarer book – from designing their own giant cruise ship and having fun with nautical flags to using a compass and meeting a ship’s officer.

Dr. Seuss Bookville is already one of the most popular activities for Carnival’s youngest cruisers, and now it will be more unique and interactive as iconic characters from the world of Dr. Seuss come to life. Thing One and Thing Two will help families put on their very own circus, while The Cat in the Hat stops by to conduct a science experiment and Sam-I-Am leads a hunt for green eggs. In addition to Carnival Celebration, Dr. Seuss Bookville is featured on Mardi Gras, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Panorama and Carnival Vista.

Enrichment Activities Immerse Teen Cruisers in Cultural Experiences

Building on the successful Holi Festival of Colors enrichment enjoyed on Mardi Gras, which gives teens an immersive and authentic look at this highly celebrated festival about hope and the colors of life, Carnival Celebration is introducing another cultural program inspired by the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan, which celebrates the beauty of life and new beginnings.

At Circle “C,” younger teens (ages 12-14) will participate in fun activities like anime drawing lessons and pop culture games. Teens in the 15-17 age group will enjoy an authentic tea ceremony, Japanese crafts, and games to encourage new friendships at Club O2. Similar enrichment programs for teens will be offered fleetwide by spring of 2023.

The expanded youth activities debuting on Carnival Celebration also include a children’s space program in partnership with Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which brings activities inspired by NASA science on board. The innovative new flagship also features a top-deck roller coaster and many other kid-friendly favorites, including a suspended ropes course and a massive water park with three slides and a new, interactive family show, “What’s Age Got to Do with It?”

The second ship in the Nova class is set to join Silversea’s fleet in summer 2024, while Silver Nova℠ will depart on her maiden voyage in August 2023

(Monaco – November 23, 2022) Leading ultra-luxury travel brand Silversea Cruises® officially begins the construction of Silver Ray℠, the second ship in the Nova class, holding a traditional steel cutting ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, on November 23. Silver Ray is set to join her sister ship, Silver Nova℠, as one of the most environmentally conscious ships ever built when she launches in summer 2024. The cruise line has taken the opportunity to set a new launch date for Silver Nova, which, due to the global situation, is now expected to join Silversea’s fleet on August 14, 2023, sailing round-trip from Fusina (Venice) on her maiden voyage.

“We are proud to have started constructing Silver Ray in collaboration with Meyer Werft, as we continue to push boundaries in sustainable cruise travel,” says Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Silversea Cruises. “As part of Royal Caribbean Group, Silversea has long stood at the forefront of innovation when it comes to environmentally conscious cruising. The launch of the Nova class represents a giant leap forward in this regard and we are introducing pioneering technologies. Given the worldwide issues that have affected the construction of Silver Nova, it has been decided to amend her launch date by approximately one month—in order to uphold the signature level of experience that our discerning guests have come to expect when travelling with Silversea.”

Silversea’s Nova-class ships are set to become the world’s first low-emissions cruise ships with advanced hybrid technology that utilize fuel cells, batteries, and dual-fuel engines that use liquefied natural gas, emitting zero local emissions while in port. A first for Silversea, each will incorporate a horizontal layout and an innovative asymmetrical design, with public spaces and suites spanning the entire length of each ship, and each will enrich guests’ travels with an unprecedented openness to the destination.

Silversea has informed affected guests and travel advisors of Silver Nova’srevised launch date, offering travelers a saving of 10% when booking an alternative voyage before November 30, 2022; a Future Cruise Credit, valued at 100% of the total booking amount paid; or a cash refund option.

SILVER ENDEAVOUR℠: SILVERSEA® OFFICIALLY NAMES WORLD’S MOST LUXURIOUS EXPEDITION SHIP IN ANTARCTICA

Silversea Cruises officially names its third new ship in just nine months, hosting the first ultra-luxury ship christening in Antarctica

(Antarctica -- November 21, 2022) Silversea Cruises® has officially named Silver Endeavour℠, the world’s most luxurious expedition ship—hosting ultra-luxury cruising’s first Antarctica naming ceremony on November 19. The industry-leading cruise line held an expedition-style celebration in the Lemaire Channel, Antarctica, to inaugurate Silver Endeavour as the 11th ship in its fleet, broadening the most diverse polar offering in ultra-luxury travel. Executives from Silversea Cruises, the ship’s Godmother Felicity Aston MBE, and select members of the cruise line’s extended family were in attendance as an ice-sculpted champagne magnum smashed against Silver Endeavour’s hull to mark the cruise line’s third naming ceremony in just nine months.

THE BLESSING CEREMONY IN PUERTO WILLIAMS

Celebrations began at an intimate blessing ceremony, held at the Cape Horn Sub-Antarctic Center in Puerto Williams, on November 15. Local dignitaries from Puerto Williams joined the festivities, which honored maritime traditions. After the Royal Caribbean Group customary bagpipe performance, singers sung the Chilean and American national anthems, a video depicted a religious figure blessing the ship, and Felicity Aston was formally introduced as the vessel’s Godmother. Unable to attend in person, Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, and Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises, sent a video message to thank the community, the crew, and all employees involved in the milestone achievement, while Barbara Muckermann—Silversea’s Chief Commercial Officer—and Felicity Aston each addressed attendees.

THE FIRST NAMING CEREMONY IN THE LEMAIRE CHANNEL

On Saturday, November 19, Silver Endeavour became the first-ever ship to be named in the Lemaire Channel—one of the continent’s most scenic straits, located off the Antarctic Peninsula. A long-respected maritime tradition, Aston blessed Silver Endeavour for good fortune, cutting a ribbon alongside Captain Niklas Peterstam on one of the ship’s outer decks to trigger an ice-sculpted, magnum-sized bottle to smash against the hull. Guests, including Barbara Muckermann and other Silversea executives, witnessed the historic moment from Zodiacs in the 11km-long, cliff-lined stretch of water. ‘Champagne on ice’ took on a new meaning, as guests raised a glass to toast to the occasion.

"We are excited to officially welcome Silver Endeavour to the Royal Caribbean Group fleet, bringing our global fleet to 64 ships," said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. "Silver Endeavour will continue to strengthen Silversea's position as the leading ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line, allowing us to grow capacity while building upon Royal Caribbean Group's mission of delivering the best vacations in the world, responsibly."

“We are incredibly proud to have hosted ultra-luxury cruising’s first Antarctica naming ceremony for Silver Endeavour, our third ship to be named in just nine months,” said Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Silversea Cruises. “I would like to thank Captain Niklas Peterstam and the ship’s crew, the entire Silversea team, Jason Liberty and all those involved at Royal Caribbean Group for their invaluable support in reaching this momentous milestone. Silver Endeavour strengthens our position as the industry’s leading cruise line, broadening our diverse polar offering for our guests’ enjoyment. A source of great inspiration for our guests, we are honored to name Felicity Aston as the ship’s Godmother. Felicity is the perfect ambassador for Silversea; she shares the same unwavering sense of curiosity and adventure that unites all of our guests.”

GODMOTHER: FELICITY ASTON

Silversea named polar explorer and climate scientist Felicity Aston as Silver Endeavour’s Godmother in October 2022. Aston became the first woman to ski solo across Antarctica in 2012, as well as the first person to traverse the continent by muscle power alone.

“Being among the first to sail aboard Silver Endeavour, naming the ship in the company of such esteemed guests, and assuming the role of Godmother makes me incredibly proud,” said Felicity Aston MBE. “She shares her name with the ship on which Captain Cook set forth for the ends of the earth, but exploration has of course evolved in the centuries since Cook departed. Today, exploration is not only about geographical discovery; it is also about finding new ideas, new inspiration, and new perspectives. Silver Endeavour will allow more people to become explorers and return home with new outlooks. She will be a source of self-enrichment, as people connect with the planet and each other. Fair winds and following seas to all those who sail on her.”

SILVER ENDEAVOUR: THE WORLD’S MOST LUXURIOUS EXPEDITION SHIP

Built to PC6 polar class specifications, Silver Endeavour is designed for polar exploration and will extend Silversea’s polar seasons. She carries state-of-the-art amenities, with an industry-leading Zodiac-to-guest ratio; kayaks; and cutting-edge navigation and exploration technology, including a remote gimbal camera system, which can capture high-quality images from 5km, among other amenities. She maintains Silversea’s trademark level of comfort, with a crew-to-guest ratio of 1:1 and the cruise line’s hallmarks of luxury, including butler service for every suite and some of the most spacious accommodations in expedition cruising.

27 NEW VOYAGES FOR SUMMER 2024 & WINTER 2024/2025

Building on the extended polar season announced for Silver Endeavour for 2023/2024, Silversea Cruises recently unveiled 27 new voyages for the vessel, calling in more than 125 of the world’s most remote destinations between summer 2024 and winter 2024/2025. Featuring a varied array of departures, itineraries, and voyage lengths, with sailings ranging from six to 21 days, the new sailings include four new voyages to the British Isles and Iceland, nine additional sailings to the Arctic, and 14 voyages to Antarctica.
