CARNIVAL RADIANCE CHRISTENED BY GODMOTHER DR. LUCILLE O’NEAL

Newest Carnival Ship Based Year-Round in Long Beach Sets Sail Today  on Inaugural Cruise

LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 13, 2021 – In a celebration of all things fun and family, Carnival Cruise Line christened its newest ship Carnival Radiance last night in a naming ceremony in Long Beach, Calif., with the ship’s Godmother Dr. Lucille O’Neal and her son, Carnival Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal as featured guests of the event.

Carnival Radiance underwent a $200 million bow-to-stern makeover and is Carnival’s third ship sailing year-round from Long Beach, joining Carnival Panorama and Carnival Miracle.

The heartfelt naming ceremony began with a “We Are Family” video of Carnival Radiance crew members preparing the ship for guests.

“Carnival Radiance features all of Carnival’s fan favorites and more, so we are beyond excited to finally welcome her to the West Coast and to our fleet,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “And having Shaq’s mom, Lucille, an accomplished speaker who donates her time and talent to a wide range of charitable organizations as the ship’s Godmother has made it even more special.”

Duffy presented Lucille with a $25,000 donation to the Odessa Chambliss Quality of Life Fund that honors the lifetime accomplishments of Lucille’s mother who worked in the medical field as a nurse. The fund’s primary mission is to provide financial contributions to help support students seeking a career in nursing and education.

As part of the ceremony, Lucille and Shaquille helped pour champagne atop a traditional ship’s bell, officially naming the ship. The City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir from Gardena, Calif. rocked the house with a gospel rendition of “We Are Family” as event guests waved light sticks during an emotional grand finale.

“What a special evening it was to celebrate the debut of Carnival Radiance with my son by my side in what truly felt like a “We Are Family” event,” said Lucille. “It has been such a pleasure to be included in these exciting festivities, so I can only imagine how incredible it will be for guests to sail aboard this spectacular ship – they’re going to love it.”

Prior to the naming ceremony, the evening kicked off with the mother-son duo cutting a ribbon to officially open Big Chicken, the second seagoing restaurant created by Shaquille, which debuted on Mardi Gras earlier this year, featuring dishes based on his family’s recipes.

The ship departs today from the Port of Long Beach on its inaugural four-day cruise. Carnival Radiance’s West Coast-based itineraries include three-day voyages to Ensenada and four-day sailings calling at Ensenada and Catalina Island. She joins Carnival Panorama operating week-long Mexican Riviera cruises and Carnival Miracle sailing four- and five-day Mexico voyages

In addition to Big Chicken, new offerings added to Carnival Radiance include Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse created by Food Network star and longtime partner Guy Fieri; Heroes Tribute Bar saluting those that serve in the Armed Forces; Cucina del Capitano family-style Italian restaurant; Bonsai Sushi; and the Caribbean-inspired RedFrog Pub. All of the ship’s public spaces have been transformed as well – including the water park, youth facilities, retail shops, Cloud 9 Spa and a new Liquid Lounge home to Carnival’s award-winning Playlist Productions shows. The exterior of the ship has also been adorned with the line’s new red, white and blue hull livery fashioned after its flagship, Mardi Gras.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE REOPENS CAMP OCEAN

Carnival Cruise Line today reopened Camp Ocean, its supervised children’s program for fully vaccinated children ages 5 to 11, for the first time since its ships have resumed service.

To ensure the health and safety of its young cruisers, Carnival has implemented enhanced protocols for Camp Ocean that are consistent with other onboard procedures, including required face masks, limited capacity, encouraged physical distancing, twice daily deep cleanings of the spaces, and one-parent-per-family drop-offs and pick-ups. Activities will be adjusted as needed to meet these guidelines.

The colorful ocean-inspired facility offers a variety of fun and engaging experiences ranging from educational activities to crafts and active games. Activity sessions will be offered daily, and guests can refer to the HUB App during their sailings for times and details.

In addition to Camp Ocean, Circle “C” and Club O2 have been and will continue to be open for vaccinated early teens ages 12 to 14 and for vaccinated teens ages 15 to 17, respectively.

Hawaii Grants Permission for UnCruise Adventures Winter & Spring Sailings. Small Ship Adventures Continue to Lead in Pandemic.

The Adventure Company Launches a Successful Hawaii Season  During Large Cruise Line Ban

JUNEAU, AK, December 8th, 2021 – Among widespread cruise line cancellations, UnCruise Adventures commenced operations in Hawaii over the Thanksgiving Holiday. UnCruise is the sole small ship company currently operating overnight interisland adventures. The 36-guest Safari Explorer kicked off her winter season with in-depth cultural immersion in Halawa Valley on the island of Molokai.

Recent news proved to be a major setback for large ship cruise lines that were forced into canceling cruises in Hawaii until 2022. UnCruise Adventures does not fall into the large cruise ship ranks and has received permission to operate in ports and parks in Hawaii. The UnCruise Adventures safety and operations team worked in earnest with all levels of management at the State and County levels, including close coordination with the Hawaii Department of Transportation, and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources.

The company worked diligently with the Hawaii Department of Health to gain approval of the company’s 100% full vaccination and testing requirements for all guests and crew. UnCruise is now celebrating 12 years of operations in Hawaii with their 7-night Hawaiian Seascape adventures from Molokai to the Kona Coast and reverse.

“It’s time to focus on our guest’s experience and the people and culture of Hawaii,” states UnCruise Adventures owner, Captain Dan Blanchard. “After almost two years of very limited travel, we are celebrating the permissions granted to us, and our ability to share an immersive exploration of the Hawaiian Islands, including the less-traveled island of Molokai, whose people and culture have become a part of the UnCruise Adventures family. We continue to work with the counties of Maui and Hawaii on operational details.”

Guests on the Hawaiian adventure can immerse themselves in the heritage and living culture of the locals while sailing from Molokai to Maui, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii with multiple adventures each day. The itinerary highlights the UnCruise focus on community, culture, and connection. The Hawaiian Seascapes itinerary visits four islands in one week and includes Halawa Valley, Hualalai Volcano, and Kealakekua Bay as examples of just three of the focal points along the route.

Blanchard shares. “We have worked diligently to ensure that Hawaii’s residents are safe and confident in our operations. The support shown by Hawaii government officials has been invaluable in routing a path for our guests to experience these beautiful islands. It is humbling to be granted permission to operate. Mahalo to the many officials and residents of Hawaii that support our experiential adventures.”

Windstar Cruises Launches New Ad Campaign and Holiday Sale

12 Ways of Windstar holiday sale runs 12/14-28

SEATTLE, WA, December 7, 2021 – U.S. headquartered Windstar Cruises launched its new ad campaign today touting that “The Wind and Stars Know the Way.”

The campaign advertises Windstar as a unique, small ship cruise product, more clearly conveying the two classes of small yachts the company operates under one definable brand experience.

Guests can choose between Windstar’s classic sailing yachts (three Wind Class yachts) and luxury all-suite yachts (three newly renovated Star Plus Class yachts) – ergo, “The Stars Know the Way” and “The Wind Knows the Way” in the new campaign materials, together forming the brand name WindStar.

“We believe in giving guests the power to choose how they sail and then delivering the benefits of small ship cruising in ways that boldly claim a competitive advantage,” says Windstar President Christopher Prelog. “With this new messaging, we have the opportunity to share the personalized approach and perspective each of our ship classes inspire, including visualizing key off-ship and onboard attributes of Windstar, such as feeling like you’re on your own private yacht with only 148 to 342 guests on board.”

Prelog believes the messaging will resonate with existing guests who know the brand well and inspire new potential customers and convert them into first time cruisers on Windstar. Look for the new messaging in print and digital ads, social, and video, as well as a new landing page on Windstar’s website.

And on the heels of a successful Black Friday/Cyber Monday “Book Your Bucket List” sale, Windstar is gearing up for its 12 Ways of Windstar holiday sale, running December 14-28. Cruise rates will be reduced on select departures with a lead rate of $1,499 per person, based on double occupancy. Travelers will find great deals on cruises in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Black Sea and Holy Lands, U.S. Coastal, Tahiti and Trans-Ocean.

Windstar’s Beyond Ordinary Care health and safety program requires everyone aboard to be vaccinated.  For more details on Windstar Cruises, visit www.windstarcruises.com.
