The ship, flying the Bahamian flag, is a symbol of Carnival’s commitment to The Bahamas, and is carrying more than 4,300 guests who enjoyed various shore excursions and activities during the day-long visit.

“We are thrilled to be visiting Nassau with our flagship Mardi Gras and welcoming Prime Minister Davis and his leadership team aboard,” said Duffy. “Carnival has a longstanding relationship with The Bahamas and we look forward to working closely with the Prime Minister and his cabinet as we continue to restart ships in our fleet, bring more guests to The Bahamas, and demonstrate our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our guests, crew and the destinations we visit.”

“We value our business relationships across The Bahamas whether our investments in destinations and facilities such as the Grand Bahamas Shipyard, the local tourism and excursion partners that employ many Bahamian citizens, or the Bahamas Maritime Administration that shares our commitment to safety and environmental protection. We’re proud and honored to continue to expand the number of ships we have registered here,” said Domenico Rognoni, senior vice president of compliance for Carnival Cruise Line. “The Bahamas’ insight, cooperation and professionalism in all aspects of our business play a key role in our maritime operations.”

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE CHRISTENS MARDI GRAS  IN FIRST NAMING CEREMONY IN THE U.S. SINCE INDUSTRY RESTART

Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal and Ship Godmother Miss Universe, Dominican Republic, Kimberly Jimenez Help Usher in the “Universe of Fun”

PORT CANAVERAL, Oct. 23, 2021 – Carnival Cruise Line today christened Mardi Gras at Port Canaveral, Fla. at a “Universe of Fun” celebration befitting of the world’s most fun cruise ship, in the first ship naming ceremony held in the U.S. since the cruise industry’s restart this summer.

Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal attended the festivities and cut the ribbon of his first Big Chicken restaurant at sea that debuted on Mardi Gras when she began cruise operations on July 31.

Miss Universe, Dominican Republic, Kimberly Jimenez served as the ship’s Godmother and officially named the ship and was joined by Miss Universe, Andrea Meza and Miss USA, Asya Branch who sang the national anthem. The event featured a “World of Nations” flag procession to highlight the diversity of the 120 nationalities of Carnival crew members, and, of course, a Mardi Gras parade with a Second Line Band.

“Today’s naming ceremony of our flagship Mardi Gras, the first in the industry since our restart of operations, signifies excitement and optimism as we look to bring our entire fleet back into guest service by spring 2022,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “This ship has been amazing guests during her pre-inaugural season and the celebration today with our Chief Fun Officer Shaq, our Godmother Kimberly, and so many special guests, was extremely gratifying and emotional.”

Following remarks by Duffy and Carnival Corporation President and CEO Arnold Donald, Carnival friends and partners Romero Britto, Emeril Lagasse, Kathie Lee Gifford, Vanna White and Guy Fieri provided their congratulations on the ship’s naming and helped bring the champagne bottle to the ship.

Godmother Jimenez blessed the ship in both English and her native Spanish and activated the traditional champagne bottle break, officially naming the ship. In a celebration of the ship’s name, a special Mardi Gras parade with Duffy, Donald and O’Neal leading it, capped off the festivities.

Mardi Gras is the first cruise ship in the Americas to be powered by eco-friendly Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and the first to feature a roller coaster.  The 180,000-ton ship boasts six distinct themed zones with a variety of food, beverage and entertainment options, including dining venues from Lagasse, Fieri, O’Neal and Rudi Sodamin. Mardi Gras sails weekly from Port Canaveral on alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.

Windstar Cruises Signs Lease on New Miami Office Headquarters

SEATTLE, WA/MIAMI, FL, October 22, 2021 – Windstar Cruises has officially found its new home in Miami, the epicenter of the cruise industry, at 8400 NW 36 St.

The small ship cruise line is moving its headquarters from Seattle to Miami by June of 2022 and has signed a lease on the 5th floor in the Doral Concourse. Work will begin outfitting the office to accommodate Windstar’s needs within the coming weeks.

Next door to the CityPlace Doral mixed-use project and with easy access to the Palmetto Expressway, Dolphin Expressway, Florida Turnpike, and minutes to Miami International Airport, the new office is an ideal location for the company. The office is in close proximity to many other cruise companies and associated services.

“Miami is the center of the cruise industry in the U.S., and this new office will help us build industry relationships and attract new talent. It will also let operations employees in Miami be closer to our yachts and crew, as well as shorten our flight times to Europe and the Caribbean, where so much of our operations take place,” said Windstar President Christopher Prelog.

Windstar recently hired Stijn Creupelandt as the new vice president of hotel operations and product development, while Paul Barrett was promoted to vice president of marine & technical operations. Both report to Prelog, and all will be based in the new office. As part of the headquarters transition, some Windstar corporate positions are moving to Denver, where the cruise line’s parent company is based, while others will be operating remotely primarily from the Seattle area.

“The pandemic has taught us that with the right technology, many of our roles can be effective from anywhere, so we’re not requiring every Windstar employee to make this move to Miami,” Prelog explained. “However, most new hires will be based in the Miami office.”

Prelog, as well as many key members of Windstar’s team, have already moved to Miami to assist with the logistics and coordination of the new office for Windstar.

Five of the line’s six yachts are now back in the water cruising while requiring vaccines of all passengers and crew amongst a host of health and safety precautions including testing, social distancing, masks, and high-tech air filtration.

The ship’s voyages will feature Zodiac landings and kayaking adventures showcasing dramatic icy landscapes and up-close wildlife encounters with penguins, seals, whales and sea birds in remote lands few people have ever seen. Exploration equipment aboard the ship includes a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) to view the sea at a 300-meter (almost 1,000 feet) depth and a Gimble long range camera mounted on the mast that can zoom in to view wildlife and scenery over a mile away.

All-inclusive fares for Crystal Endeavor’s inaugural Antarctic voyages start at $9,949 per guest, including up to $9,200 in Book Now Savings per suite when booked by November 3, 2021, as well as a $1,000 “As You Wish” shipboard spending credit per person. Guests will also enjoy reduced deposit of 15 percent (normally 25 percent) as well as relaxed final payment due 60 days prior to first date of service for 2021 through March 2022 voyages.

Crystal Endeavor’s inaugural Antarctic Season concludes with “Falkland Islands & South Georgia to South Africa” a unique 19-night trans-Atlantic expedition from Ushuaia to Cape Town, South Africa, featuring incredible wildlife from the Falkland’s seabird colonies to South Georgia’s massive king penguin rookery, and an extremely rare three-day visit to the Tristan da Cunha archipelago. Guests will visit Edinburgh of the Seven Seas on Tristan da Cunha, regarded as the most remote permanent settlement on earth. Additional explorations in the far-off archipelago include Nightingale Island, an active volcanic isle boasting penguin and seabird colonies and Gough Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering the chance to encounter elephant and fur seals and the majestic albatross in flight.  The voyage departs on March 1, 2022 and includes complimentary non-stop chartered air from Miami to Ushuaia, and a pre-cruise luxury hotel accommodation in Ushuaia. Fares begin at just $17,799 per guest including up to $4,500 in Book Now Savings per suite.

Crystal Endeavor is the eighth ship in the award-winning cruise line’s worldwide fleet and, at 100 gross tons and 10,000 cubic feet per guest with a guest space ratio of more than 100, she has the largest space per guest of any ship at sea. Luxuriously designed to offer discerning travelers elegantly expansive private and public spaces, the ship accommodates just 200 guests in 100 well-appointed all-verandah, all-butler serviced suites, among the largest and most spacious in expedition cruising.

Throughout the ship, Crystal hallmarks accent guests’ onboard experience: Michelin-inspired dining options including Umi Uma, the first and only Japanese restaurant on an expedition ship, fine Italian cuisine at Prego, 24-hour room service and optional Vintage Room experience; the only casino on an expedition yacht; and the full-service Crystal Life Salon & Spa with a state-of-the-art Fitness Center; as well as a wrap-around Promenade Deck, an iconic Crystal design element.

Crystal continues to be a leader in its response to COVID-19 with its Crystal Clean+ protocols based on the latest data and recommendations by health experts. The company was the first major cruise line to require a COVID-19 vaccine for both guests and crew in 2021 and now the first through 2022.

All Flights (Charters) operated by Omni Air International.

This rich, immersive experience on Serenade of the Seas is the longest and most comprehensive world cruise out there, sailing roundtrip from Miami on Dec. 10, 2023 and through Sept. 10, 2024. Bookings for the full Ultimate World Cruise can be made by phone starting today, with an exclusive one-week window through Oct. 26 for Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society Diamond status members and above.

Travelers will sail to 57 destinations new to the cruise line and exclusive to the cruise itself. Highlights include Casablanca, Morocco; Qaqortoq, Greenland; and Shimizu, Japan – the gateway to Mount Fuji. Guests can delve deep into many of the world’s breathtaking wonders, from Peru’s Machu Picchu to the Taj Mahal in India, and experience distinct cultures and picturesque shores at every corner of the world all in one spectacular adventure – only on Royal Caribbean.

“This is the world cruise of world cruises,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International “Now more than ever, people have resolved to travel the world and make up for lost time. Royal Caribbean is making that a reality with the ultimate vacation that welcomes those seeking adventure and exploration to taste, dance and dream with us around the world. To travelers asking themselves where they should go next, we say everywhere.”

Guests ready to traverse the world can book the full Ultimate World Cruise today or choose from any of the four expeditions that will offer a wide range of destinations as soon as December 2021 – the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe:

  • Round the Horn: Americas and Antarctica Expedition
    Dec. 10, 2023 - Feb. 11, 2024 – Three continents, 36 destinations, four wonders
The once-in-a-lifetime journey begins in Miami, the cruise capital of the world, and sets course for postcard-perfect Caribbean destinations – like the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) – before heading to glacier-studded Antarctica and around Cape Horn. Travelers can take in four of the world’s stunning wonders along the way in Central and South America, including Chichen Itza in Cozumel, Mexico; the largest art deco sculpture in the world, Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro – where they’ll celebrate New Year’s Eve – and the largest waterfall system on the planet, Iguazu Falls near Buenos Aires, Argentina. One of the most iconic symbols of ancient Inca civilization and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Machu Picchu, awaits in Peru, while sunshine and glamour will welcome guests in Los Angeles.

  • Wonders of Asia and the Pacific Expedition
    Feb. 11 - May 9, 2024 – Three continents, 40 destinations, three wonders
Guests will venture miles from the ordinary in Oceania, Asia and beyond on the cruise’s next showstopping leg. They can discover the beauty and adventure throughout the Hawaiian Islands’ world-renowned mountainous landscapes and black sand beaches before sailing south to Moorea and Tahiti, French Polynesia, for sapphire blue skies and crystal-clear waters. The thrills continue with an exploration of New Zealand, before a deep-dive into Australia’s Great Barrier Reef – the only living thing on the planet that’s visible from space. Pristine natural beauty in Bali, Indonesia, is soon followed by two of the most iconic manmade world wonders, the Great Wall of China and India’s Taj Mahal, and gems of the South Pacific – from Vietnam to Malaysia. Rounding out the expedition are endless possibilities in Japan, with unparalleled culture in Tokyo, street food in Osaka and the tropical beaches of Okinawa.

  • Middle East Treasures and Marvels of the Med Expedition
    May 9 - July 10, 2024 – Three continents, 44 destinations, four wonders
This expedition begins in glamorous Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and brings many of history’s greatest mysteries, myths and legends to life. Adventurers can uncover ancient sites and more world wonders from the times of emperors and pharaohs, like Jordan’s lost city of Petra, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, Turkey, and the Colosseum in Rome. There are also less-traveled places to explore, such as Greece’s Olympia, once a sanctuary site to honor Zeus and the location of the first Olympic games. The journey only continues to even more destinations known for their storied history — like Split, Croatia, and Cannes and Provence in France.

  • Capitals of Culture
    July 10 - Sept. 10, 2024 – Three continents, 40 destinations
The final leg of the Ultimate World Cruise is an immersive, cultural experience that begins in the Mediterranean and heads north. At travelers’ fingertips is the opportunity to discover Barcelona’s brilliant architecture, including Antoni Gaudi’s famed Sagrada Familia and whimsical Park Guell, and savor new flavors across continents — such as an indulgent lunch in a Parisian bistro and a dinner of tagine and mint tea in Morocco. Museums, theaters and galleries line the streets of St. Petersburg, Russia, while larger-than-life fjords await in Norway. Guests can reflect on their epic voyage in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon in Iceland before visiting New York on their way back to Miami.

Globetrotters will explore the world in style on board Serenade, thanks to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning experiences and amenities. And adventurers can stay close to the action with the ship’s acres of glass, which offer panoramic views, as they cruise from one destination, continent and world wonder to the next. From start to finish, guests who book the full Ultimate World Cruise can expect a seamless, world-class travel experience that includes business class airfare, premium transportation as well as an evening of festivities and accommodations at a five-star hotel before setting sail. Plus, Crown & Anchor Society Platinum status members and above will receive a bonus Seven New World Wonders shore excursion package in addition to other perks, including a Deluxe Beverage package, VOOM Wi-Fi, laundry service and more.

Bookings for the entire Ultimate World Cruise open today for Diamond and above Crown & Anchor Society members. Guests interested in booking can call Royal Caribbean’s dedicated line for the Ultimate World Cruise at 800-423-2100 (US toll free) or their travel advisor.
