SEATTLE, WA, July 16, 2021 – U.S. headquartered small ship cruise line Windstar Cruises has resumed cruising this week in French Polynesia/the Islands of Tahiti with vaccinated guests + crew aboard the line’s 148-passenger Wind Spirit sailing ship. Half of the line’s six yacht fleet is now back in the water cruising.

To celebrate Wind Spirit’s return, the line has added free drinks to its already enticing bundled pricing.

Windstar offers a convenient Air + Hotel package from Los Angeles International Airport that includes the round trip Air Tahiti Nui flight from Los Angeles, pre-cruise accommodations and a post-cruise day room, ground transfers in Tahiti, and a seven-, 10- or 11-night boutique cruise in French Polynesia. Now on cruise vacations including air and hotel booked during the promotional period ending July 30, 2021, guests also receive the promise of a free beverage package (with unlimited select spirits, wine, beer, cocktails, and minibar items), guaranteeing an extra Mai Tai or three beneath a palm tree. If guests don’t imbibe, they can alternately choose shipboard credit to put towards other experiences, like a relaxing onboard spa treatment or shore excursions such as SCUBA diving, reef snorkeling, or even harvesting Tahitian black pearls.

Windstar typically sails year-round from Tahiti, where cruises take place on Wind Spirit, a 148-guest motorized sailing yacht specifically designed for the region and capturing the South Pacific trade winds in its billowing sails. However, Windstar’s reimagined, new all-suite Star Breeze yacht carrying 312 guests will begin sailings in the region on September 19 and will remain on a limited engagement in Tahiti until March of 2022, giving guests a unique chance to sail on the larger, more amenity-intensive yacht in gracious ocean view 277 square feet suites. Windstar offers a complimentary private event on their Tahiti cruises: a private beach party and locally sourced feast on one of Bora Bora’s tiny motus, followed by a kinetic fire-dancing performance. It is available on all sailings/both yachts.

“Windstar glides into small bays other cruise ships can’t reach and drops anchor at some of the earth's most beautiful islands like Bora Bora and Moorea,” says Windstar President Christopher Prelog. “Because French Polynesia is such a popular destination for romance, most guests book these itineraries quite far in advance, leading to lots of pent-up demand on a limited-space small yacht after a year of cancelled honeymoons and anniversary trips. These intimate cruises are filling fast.”

Windstar is returning to operations in a phased manner, with its fleet of six yachts debuting on various dates through November, while requiring vaccines of all passengers amongst a host of health and safety precautions including testing, social distancing, masks, and high-tech air filtration. On June 19, Windstar’s Wind Star yacht resumed revenue operations in Greece, and on July 10, Windstar’s Star Breeze began sailing in the Caribbean, both with vaccinated guests and crew.

Windstar has plans to resume sailing on the following yachts in 2021 with vaccinated guests + crew:

Wind Surf – August 8, 2021 – Mediterranean
Star Legend – September 4, 2021 – Northern Europe
Star Pride – November 3, 2021 – Caribbeana11/21.

ST. JOHN’S, ANTIGUA (July 15, 2021) – Tourism hopes are high in Antigua and Barbuda as the country welcomes the return of cruising signaling the rebound of the vibrant cruise tourism sector.

The mood was celebratory as Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze, coasted into Antigua’s, St. John’s Harbour on July 15, greeted by a symbolic water canon salute, the booming of tugboat horns, and lively steelpan performances by the respected Hells Gate Steel Orchestra.

On hand to officially welcome Captain Ricardo Pinzon, and over two hundred passengers and crew onboard the luxury vessel, was Minister of Tourism, The Honourable Charles Fernandez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Senator, The Hon. Mary-Claire Hurst, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority Colin C. James, General Manager of the Antigua Cruise Port Dona Regis-Prosper, Chief Health Inspector Sharon Martin, alongside other health and tourism stakeholders.

“Today is truly an exciting day for Antigua and Barbuda’s cruise industry. It is one that we have been working hard towards with our Health Authorities and International Cruise lines to ensure that we restart in a safe and sustainable manner to the benefit of all stakeholders,” said Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Charles Fernandez.  “It’s also one that has been looked forward to with anticipation by the scores of businesses and hundreds of our countrymen who depend on this industry for their livelihoods.”

Antigua’s cruise ship sector was poised for exponential growth just prior to the pandemic. This is the first revenue cruise that the country has received in over a year. It comes at a time when Antigua and Barbuda has more than 37,000 persons in its adult population vaccinated, and covid-19 cases are at an all time low, following the successful management of the health crisis.

A third of Antigua and Barbuda’s labour force is employed in the tourism industry. In preparation for the safe restart the cruise sector, Antigua and Barbuda tourism officials invested in training tourism workers, covid-19 protocol certified approximately four hundred tourism businesses, and improved port infrastructure to include the completion of a fifth berth. They have also held months of discussions with Antigua Cruise Port management, and the Ministry of Health designing robust health and safety protocols.

Dona Regis-Prosper, General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port said, “Nothing could have given me greater joy today than the sight of the Star Breeze pulling into the port! We are absolutely thrilled to welcome this fabulous yacht-style cruise ship and its passengers and crew to Antigua & Barbuda. In recent weeks, we have been in many discussions with the Windstar Cruises team and the government to determine how to make this trip, and voyages to come, as safe and successful as possible for everyone involved.

Regis-Prosper noted that, “Given the fact that the threat of COVID-19 is still very real, the cruise line has advised that as a cautionary measure, only passengers taking organized tours will be allowed to disembark in the first instance, however, we continue to work with the cruise line and local health authorities as these protocols evolve.  We are grateful for the confidence that the Windstar Cruises team has demonstrated in our port and our destination by choosing Antigua & Barbuda as one of the exclusive destinations for this sailing”.

All crew and passengers on the Windstar Cruises' Star Breeze are fully vaccinated. Over sixty passengers disembarked the vessel to enjoy organized tours in Antigua and Barbuda.

Antigua and Barbuda is a luxurious world class destination with many beautiful white sandy beaches, culinary delicacies, unique excursions, and tour options for guests to enjoy.

CARNIVAL BREEZE RETURNS TO SERVICE FROM GALVESTON TODAY; THIRD CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE SHIP TO RESUME GUEST OPERATIONS

GALVESTON, TEXAS, July 15, 2021 - Carnival Breeze returns to service today when it departs on a four-day cruise from Galveston, part of its popular schedule of short cruises from that port. The ship is the line’s third to resume service, following the sailings of Carnival Vista from Galveston and Carnival Horizon from Miami in early July.

“We’re delighted that Carnival Breeze is our first ship to return operating short cruise itineraries and our second ship to resume from the Port of Galveston,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Short cruises are very popular with our guests – roughly half our fleet operates cruises of five days or less – so we are excited to broaden our itinerary offerings to include these convenient and affordable getaways.”

Today’s sailing will visit Cozumel while five-day cruises departing on Mondays and Saturdays call at Cozumel and Costa Maya or Progreso, Mexico.

Later this month, Carnival Miracle begins sailing Alaska cruises and the line’s newest and most innovative ship, Mardi Gras, sets sail for the first time from Port Canaveral.

Carnival Cruise Line was the first cruise line to recognize the incredible potential of Galveston as a homeport, launching the port’s first year-round cruises in 2000.

Today, Carnival is the number one cruise operator from Galveston and the only cruise operator with three year-round ships at the port. Carnival Vista, Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream operate 150 voyages annually from Galveston, carrying an estimated 750,000 passengers a year.

Proudly sailing as America’s Cruise Line, Carnival operates from 14 U.S. homeports – the most in cruising – providing consumers with a convenient and affordable way of getting to and from their cruise.  Roughly half of the U.S. population is within a day’s drive of a Carnival homeport.

Porto is World Navigator’s main dining room, named in celebration of Atlas Ocean Voyages’ Portuguese heritage, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a choice of indoor and al fresco seating. Breakfast will present both a la carte and continental buffet options, while Porto’s lunch offers a blend of international fare and local dishes, balancing freshly prepared proteins with plant-based superfoods, smoked vegetables, a variety of flavorful cheeses, cold and carved meats, soups, and much more.

Dinner will be flavor-focused and regionally themed nightly, drawing inspiration from foodie-favorite global destinations such as Greece, Peru, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Mexico. A way to experience Portuguese flavors in Porto is with the special Alma menu, which is available on alternate evenings for dinner. “Alma” means soul in Portuguese, and the menu reflects the soul of the cruise line’s Portuguese heritage, with recipes that have been lovingly passed down from generations of home cooks. The recipes will celebrate core Portuguese culinary traditions, including artisanal techniques with ceramic jars and other cultural cookware. Dishes include “Bacalhau a Bras” – shredded Portuguese-salted cod with onions, thinly sliced fried potatoes, olives and scrambled eggs, from Lisbon; “Alheira de Mirandela” – traditional Portuguese sausage, wilted green radish tops and potatoes, from Mirandela; and the delectable regional dessert called “Torta de Azeitão” – egg custard rolled in egg dough, from the municipality of Setúbal.

Aficionados are in for a wholly unique chophouse dinner experience at the intimate 7Aft Grill, which features a one-of-a-kind shipboard cooking technique called “jospering,” a method of grilling that originated in Barcelona in 1969 and is now considered an epic preparation technique in gourmet charcoal gastronomy. 7Aft will be the first shipboard venue in the world to use this renowned preparation method. At dinner, Josper-grilled specialties will include Black Angus filet mignon, New York strip steak, lamb saddle, Dover sole, grilled shrimp, and lobster.

Lunch is also served on 7Aft’s pool-deck location and offers modern gastropub-style fare such as smoked bread, chicken marinated 24 hours in blonde beer, hot dogs, smoked ribs, and a range of a la carte soups, pizzas, proteins, carbs and vegetables. Specialty lunch offerings, such as a beef tartare burger served on brioche bread, are freshly made on board, from scratch, and 7Aft’s Angus burgers will always be fresh, never frozen.

The Dome is World Navigator’s 270o, forward-facing, observation lounge with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and, by day, a spot for guests to enjoy a light, late lunch after a day spent exploring. With airy indoor seating and an extension into an outdoor seating area, The Dome’s aesthetic is inspired by the horizon and sky. Items at The Dome include teas with hot herbal infusions, such as fresh mint and rosemary, iced tea, juices, and cold infusions such as cucumber and lime, cookies, cakes, specialty sandwiches, savory spreads and cheeses, and daily vegetarian selections.

Guests looking for delectable grab-and-go fare with an eco-friendly sensibility can visit Paula’s Pantry, named for Mrs. Paula Ferreira, Mystic Invest executive, co-owner and the wife of Chairman Mário Ferreira, the founder of Atlas Ocean Voyages. From early morning through 6 pm daily, Paula’s Pantry will serve easy-to-carry beverages such as espresso and specialty coffees made with small batch-roasted, organic, and Fairtrade-certified CaffèMilano beans, Kusmi teas, and fresh juice-based detox offerings featuring celery or turmeric; a variety of cold specialty sandwiches and salads; soups; and cupcakes. Paula’s Pantry, as well as throughout World Navigator, will not offer single-use plastics, rather it uses bamboo straws and cutlery and biodegradable plates and cups.

World Navigator also offers room service, with an “always available” menu for all guests, featuring options such as an organic tomato cream soup, burgers, club sandwich, eggplant vegan burger, and a “buddha bowl” salad. For breakfast, guests can choose from a “Classic Breakfast” or “Healthy Breakfast” menu.

Wise and Westerholm have assembled an impressive lineup of expedition guides including ornithologist Joe Cockram, marine biologist Lisa LaPoint, glaciologist and geologist Bob Gilmore, historian Captain Ken Burton, photographers Roger Pimenta and Bruno Cazarini, and artist in residence Bruce Pearson to enrich guests experiences aboard Crystal Endeavor’sinaugural voyages in Iceland where rich bird and marine life present fascinating studies against a backdrop of stunning land and seascapes.

“To have such a diverse and experienced team of experts leading guests on small group expeditions to provide insights on the wildlife and landscapes of Iceland’s rare and remote places is the heart of the true expedition experience we want to offer our guests,” said Walter Barinaga, Crystal’s director of destination experiences. “Crystal Endeavor was designed to provide unique experiences and up-close encounters with the natural world and this incredible team will certainly enrich that experience by offering our guests a deeper understanding of the special places they visit.”

Both Wise and Westerholm are veteran explorers of the Arctic and Antarctic, with vast experience leading expeditions in the polar regions and beyond. Wise, an accomplished photographer with a background in horticulture, has spent a decade sharing his expertise in Southeast Alaska, before he ventured to Greenland, Iceland, the Northwest Passage, Baffin Island, Svalbard Archipelago, Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. Cashin has always felt a deep connection to the natural world from her study of Geology and her work as a geoscientist to her adventures with National Geographic and as a tour operator for Canada’s premier mountain instruction and guiding school. Since 2012 she has combined her skills to work as a lecturer and expedition leader in the Arctic and Antarctic. Westerholm has a background in social anthropology and passion for the wilderness on expedition voyages for more than 13 years, guiding travelers through the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as Iceland, Central America, Eastern Canada and the British Isles.

In 2007 he left the business world to work on ships and a passion for photography was born. Cockram shares his love of birds and his field experience amongst puffins, shearwaters, terns and the occasional seal, as he helps people discover diverse bird species.

A decision in 2004 to share his experiences and knowledge with others has led him on expeditions through the Drake Passage, the Antarctic Peninsula, Svalbard in the High Arctic.

  • Lisa LaPoint, Marine Biologist – An accomplished photographer, naturalist and boat captain, Lisa LaPoint’s decade of experience in expeditions and exploration have taken her to all seven continents and every ocean. A veteran of more than 60 polar expeditions, he not only documents the culture, wildlife and environments of extreme places, he also leads workshops and photo clinics with an emphasis on environmental storytelling through imagery.

Carrying its own fleet of sea kayaks, 18 Zodiacs and featuring a helipad, Crystal Endeavor was purpose built to offer a true expedition experience including a PC6 polar classification that enables her to sail in polar regions. Exploration equipment aboard the ship includes a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) to view the sea at a 300-meter (almost 1,000 feet) depth and a Gimble long range camera mounted on the mast that can zoom in to view wildlife and scenery over a mile away.

The camera system shoots 4K video that will be streamed directly on the HD TVs throughout the ship including public areas and guest suites, and on the large 65-inch screens in Palm Court, the 86-inch screens in the Expedition Lounge and on the Cove’s video wall, with a massive 218-inch center screen and two 145-inch side screens. In total, guests will visit 65 destinations across 14 countries, including 40 new destinations for a Silversea World Cruise. Plus, 23 overnight stays will unlock deeper cultural immersion.

Hosted aboard the 388-guest Silver Shadow, the voyage will depart San Francisco on January 15, 2024. Travelers will journey from east to west, from one of the planet’s extremes to the other, on a round-trip itinerary that will encompass most of the Pacific Rim, from Hawaii and remote Pacific isles, to Australia and New Zealand, through Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and the Russian Far East, and back across the Pacific to Alaska, Canada, and California. The remote, volcanic Russian Far East and America's wildly beautiful Alaska will feature for the first time on a Silversea World Cruise.

"Ultra-luxury travel is well and truly back and our guests have expressed a strong desire for longer cruises to faraway destinations, exemplified by the resounding success of our World Cruise 2023, which sold out on the day of its general opening," says Roberto Martinoli. "Building on that momentum, our World Cruise 2024, 'Far East-West,' is designed to bring together some of the world's most interesting and far-flung destinations in a meaningful way that lets guests experience the true joy of exploring the world again, while enjoying superlative comfort and luxury, and making lifelong friends."

A CINEMATIC PREMIERE

Silversea today hosted an exclusive, virtual premiere of its World Cruise 2024 for selected guests and Travel Partners. Shot over three days at the famous Villa Arconati near Milan, a cinematic production, hosted by Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, Silversea's President's Ambassador to the Venetian Society, preceded a live Q&A session with Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer, and Fernando.

"I am fortunate to have the privilege of coming together virtually with our world-cruising guests as we announced the array of unique discoveries that awaits them on the World Cruise 2024," says Fernando. "It will be my pleasure to share this remarkable adventure with our extended family of returning Venetian Society members, as well as those curious travelers joining us for the first time."

“We decided to unveil our World Cruise 2024 to members of our Venetian Society and Travel Partners by way of a cinematic extravaganza, in which our beloved Fernando took center stage to showcase this incredible itinerary, presenting the voyage’s highlights to a holographic version of himself,” says Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Commercial Officer. “In a nod to our Italian heritage, we hired a beautiful, historic villa in the Italian countryside to surprise our guests and to emulate the elegance in which they will travel while on the World Cruise 2024.”

THE NAMING CEREMONY OF MSC CRUISES’ NEWEST FLAGSHIP TO TAKE PLACE IN ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST SOUGHT-AFTER TRAVEL DESTINATIONS - DUBAI

  • The line reveals that the naming ceremony for MSC Virtuosa will take place in Dubai on November 27, 2021 at a glittering event involving the global travel trade and media

  • Partnership between MSC Cruises, Dubai Tourism, DP World and Emirates Airline will further enhance Dubai’s position as the cruise hub of the region

  • MSC Virtuosa will become the most technologically and environmentally advanced cruise ship to have ever been deployed to the region

Dubai, UAE and Geneva, Switzerland (July 14, 2021) — MSC Cruises in partnership with Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), DP World and Emirates Airline, today announced that the naming ceremony for the line’s newest flagship, MSC Virtuosa, will take place in Dubai on November 27 at Mina Rashid (Port Rashid). The event reflects the growing importance of Dubai as a must-visit destination for global travelers and cruising’s important contribution to the city’s tourism industry.

The newest addition to the MSC Cruises fleet derives her name from the Italian word virtuoso, honoring the master craftsmen who designed and developed this masterpiece, which will be the most technologically and environmentally advanced cruise ship ever deployed in the UAE. Her naming will be celebrated with a stunning array of live entertainment and performances awaiting the specially invited guests from around the world as well as from across the Gulf region – one of MSC Cruises’ key markets where the company is brand leader. Further details of the line-up of entertainment events will be revealed soon.

The naming ceremony event will take place in compliance with all public health and safety protocols established by the Dubai government, as well as with the support of MSC Cruises’ health and safety protocol that allowed the cruise line’s ships offer safe and enjoyable cruises since August 2020 and to restart its operations in this region. The occasion will also be a part of the celebrations surrounding the Golden Jubilee of the UAE and will be staged as Dubai welcomes the world to Expo 2020.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, said: “Dubai has charted a strong and steady course to become a global tourism destination and preferred regional cruising gateway. The milestone naming ceremony and maiden voyage of MSC Virtuosa from Dubai underscores the trust and confidence that the city has earned as a great partner for the cruise industry. We’ve leveraged our city’s world-class transport and tourism infrastructure, including with Emirates’ investment in a dedicated remote check-in facility at Port Rashid, to provide cruise operators and passengers the best possible experiences, with seamless sea-air connections and exciting Dubai itineraries during their transit. We look forward to the reinvigoration of cruise passenger growth with these solid foundations in place and are excited to welcome the world to Dubai in the coming months as we move full speed ahead with the Expo Dubai, UAE’s Golden Jubilee programs, and many other initiatives.”

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, said, “We are incredibly proud and honored to hold the naming ceremony for our cherished flagship and masterpiece MSC Virtuosa in one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations - Dubai. This event assumes more significance due to the fact that it is part of the line-up of glorious events and activities taking place for the "Year of the 50th" and coincides with the region’s first World Expo, as well as truly celebrating Dubai as one of the favored destinations for travelers from all over the world. I am so glad that cruising has played and will continue to play an important part in this achievement. I also want to thank Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DP World and Emirates Airline for their partnership and support in making this event happen.”

The UAE’s Golden Jubilee program will include a host of activities held across the country, celebrating the country’s formation in 1971 and its rise from a small trading port to an iconic global destination. Hosting the MSC Virtuosa naming ceremony recognizes Dubai’s position as an international hub for tourism, trade and technology, and highlights its achievement in setting the highest international standards across various sectors over the past 50 years. With world class infrastructure including remarkable port and cruise terminal facilities, Dubai is able to handle some of the world’s biggest cruise ships, further bolstering the city’s position as one of the most viable gateways for both regional and international cruise itineraries.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), said: “We take great pride in the fact that Dubai has emerged as the cruise hub of the region based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to make the city the world’s most visited and re-visited destination. Dubai’s partnership with an internationally renowned cruise line such as MSC Cruises is testament to the global appeal of Dubai’s cruise industry and its position as a multi-faceted tourism destination. This milestone event will contribute towards sustaining tourism momentum and further strengthen the destination proposition, as we continue to open up to the world in a safe and secure way.

“Within the past five decades, Dubai has built a heritage of excellence across several spheres with the city’s transformation into a highly successful international city being largely driven by the unique style of collaboration between the government and private sectors. As we look forward to marking this momentous tourism event in this landmark year for Dubai, we remain grateful to our valued network of stakeholders and partners such as Emirates and DP World for their continued support, which has helped Dubai kick-start global tourism recovery including a return to cruising in the region.”

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said: “The quadripartite

partnership further consolidates collaboration, takes MSC Cruises’ operations in Dubai to a new level and highlights the emirate’s world-class ability to embrace the expected growth in cruise tourism, given optimistic forecasts of a long-awaited finale of the COVID-19 pandemic looming in the distance”.

He added: “As industry prepares for the return of global tourists with health and safety protocols in place, the event planned in November adds to the glitter of EXPO 2020 and highlights Dubai’s position as a cruise destination of choice”.

Following the naming ceremony, MSC Virtuosa will depart for its maiden Gulf voyage on November 28 with guests on board from Dubai as the first of a series 7-night cruises with visits to the ports of Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas, Dammam in Saudi Arabia and Doha with additional embarkations at Abu Dhabi and Doha.

MSC Virtuosa was delivered in February and is one of MSC Cruises’ most innovative and environmentally-advanced ships and part of the generation of Meraviglia class vessels that are characterized by an iconic 367 ft. long promenade with a stunning LED sky dome as the social heart of the ship.

The 19-deck ship will offer its guests of all ages the very best of fine dining restaurants, world-class entertainment, relaxing bars and lounges, boutique shopping, spa and fitness centers, an aquapark and clubs for toddlers to teenagers.

Likely to be a huge draw for all guests will be the brand-new MSC Starship Club featuring the world’s first humanoid robotic bartender offering a futuristic immersive bar and entertainment experience.

MSC Cruises resumed its operation in August 2020 following approvals from regulatory bodies throughout Europe for an industry-leading health and safety protocol designed to protect the wellbeing of MSC Cruises’ guests, crew and communities its ships visited. Most recently, on May 20 the line was also the first to restart operations in the UK where MSC Virtuosa is currently performing local cruises in the British Isles.

Thousands of guests have to date enjoyed safe and responsible cruise holidays including the Company’s pioneering protected shore excursions. This summer sees the restart of up to ten vessels as a result of this protocol.

The protocol was developed in 2020 with input from international health experts – including MSC Cruises’ ‘COVID-19 Blue-Ribbon Expert Group’ - and in close cooperation with relevant national and regional health, transport and safety authorities throughout Europe.
