SILVERSEA CRUISES ANNOUNCES PUERTO WILLIAMS AS NEW DEPARTURE PORT FOR SELECTED ANTARCTICA EXPEDITIONS
(Miami, FL -- April 29, 2021) Starting in November 2021, ultra-luxury cruise innovator Silversea will debut Puerto Williams, Chile, as its new departure port for Silver Explorer’s expedition cruises to Antarctica.1 Expanding the most diverse Antarctica offering in ultra-luxury travel, the addition of Puerto Williams will see guests travel seamlessly between Santiago and Antarctica, with private flights enhancing their comfort. Nestled on Isla Navarino in the Beagle Channel at the southern tip of South America, Puerto Williams is a sparsely populated frontier town, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Accessible only to smaller ships, it is a scenic gateway to the natural wonders of Antarctica.
"The addition of Puerto Williams as a new departure port, combined with our exclusive private flight service between the city and Santiago, highlights our commitment to unlocking seamless expedition experiences to the White Continent in unparalleled comfort," says Conrad Combrink, Silversea's Senior Vice President of Expeditions, Turnaround Operations and Destination Management. “With an Antarctica voyage to suit the interests and needs of every discerning traveler, Silversea’s collection of voyages to the White Continent is the most diverse offering in the ultra-luxury segment. Aboard our intimate ships, guests enjoy the most inclusive cruise experience available, while benefiting from our team’s destination expertise, which is unrivaled.”
PRIVATE FLIGHTS INCLUDED BETWEEN SANTIAGO AND PUERTO WILLIAMS
As part of Silversea's all-inclusive Antarctica package, guests will depart from a private terminal in Santiago, Chile, on an exclusive lunchtime flight reserved only for Silversea guests to Puerto Williams -- with extra legroom and additional baggage allowance enhancing the journey. Escorted by a Silversea representative during this personalized and enriched in-flight experience, guests will enjoy a set of gourmet experiences inspired by S.A.L.T., Silversea's immersive new culinary program. Upon arrival in Puerto Williams, guests will not need to clear customs; instead, they will enjoy a quick transfer that will whisk them directly to the pier to embark Silver Explorer.
Following their thrilling expedition cruise to the White Continent, guests will once again board a private aircraft for the return flight from Puerto Williams to Santiago. The round-trip, private flight service complements an array of all-inclusive Antarctica package benefits, such as round-trip transoceanic flights in economy class (or reduced business class airfares) to Santiago; a welcome dinner reception and one-night, pre-cruise hotel stay in Santiago; transfers and luggage handling between airport, hotel and ship; and a post-cruise overnight hotel stay (with transfers) for guests who do not have a return international flight on the day of disembarkation.
The private flight benefit is facilitated by Silversea's exclusive partnership with DAP Antarctic Airways -- the carrier selected to provide the flight component of Antarctica Bridge, Silversea’s pioneering fly-cruise program that will provide the fastest, most direct route to Antarctica, starting with Silver Explorer voyages in December 2021.
SETTING THE BENCHMARK FOR ADVENTURE IN ANTARCTICA
With three luxury expedition ships -- Silver Explorer, Silver Cloud, and Silver Wind -- deployed to Antarctica during the region's summer season, opportunities abound for travelers to voyage in Silversea's signature comfort and elegance as they discover the enchanting wildlife and icescapes of this icy wonderland. Each all-suite, butler-serviced ship features specialist experts who lead immersive shore excursions for guests. These passionate and knowledgeable professionals offer informative lectures, discussions and recaps on board, in addition to Zodiac and kayak tours, hikes, and nature walks ashore -- all of which are included in the fare.
The most diverse Antarctica expedition program in ultra-luxury cruising, Silversea's varied Antarctica collection includes a series of 10-day (or 12-day) explorations of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, as well as shorter sailings of just five, six, or nine days as part of the Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program. Longer journeys encompass the Antarctic Peninsula, the South Shetland Islands, the Falkland Islands, Elephant Island, and South Georgia. Two ‘deep Antarctica’ itineraries will spend 20 days tracing a path beyond the Antarctic Circle, as they attempt to reach a latitude of 69 degrees south. Plus, two unique sailings will offer the chance to witness the solar eclipse on December 4, 2021, from Antarctica -- the only place on Earth where it can be viewed in totality.

SUN, SAND, SEA AND MSC SEASIDE: SUMMER IN THE MEDDITERANEAN FEATURES NEW DESTINATIONS AND AN EXCLUSIVE BEACH EXPERIENCE
The iconic MSC Seaside to sail in the Mediterranean for the first time this summer with generous outdoor spaces, connecting guests with the sea
The iconic MSC Seaside to sail in the Mediterranean for the first time this summer with generous outdoor spaces, connecting guests with the sea
Ship’s itinerary to feature two brand new destinations – Taranto and Siracusa, in sunny Puglia and Sicily, Italy – and a private beach experience in Taranto exclusive to MSC Seaside guests
Geneva, Switzerland (April 22, 2021) — MSC Cruises today announced that this summer guests of MSC Seaside will be able to enjoy an exclusive private beach experience in Taranto, Puglia during their cruise. Taranto was recently announced as one of two brand new destinations on MSC Seaside’s itinerary in sunny southern Italy, with the second being Siracusa in Sicily.
MSC Seaside will spend a season in the Mediterranean, marking the first time that the iconic MSC Cruises ship will sail in the region. Designed to help guests enjoy the outdoors, MSC Seaside is known as the ship that follows the sun, connecting guests with the sea. The ship’s outdoor spaces are some of the most generous at sea — Ideal for the warm weather of the Mediterranean summer — and with a host of innovative features, guests are treated to a one-of-a-kind cruise vacation.
MSC Seaside will join the Company’s flagship MSC Grandiosa in the Mediterranean and welcome back guests starting May 1. MSC Seaside’s brand-new itinerary of 7-night cruises will call at Genoa, Valetta in Malta, Siracusa, Taranto and Civitavecchia.
Under MSC Cruises’ current health and safety protocol, ashore visits are possible only as part of a protected excursion, so that guests can discover and explore the different attractions while maintaining a safe social bubble. However, since a summer vacation would not be complete without a visit to the beach, MSC Cruises has developed a special offering for Taranto where MSC Seaside guests can spend a day at a beach safely, exclusively for the use of MSC Cruises guests.
MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato commented, “As we continue to offer one of the safest ways to take a holiday, we knew that we needed to make sure that we delivered on all of the elements of a summer holiday and this meant finding a way to enable our guests to also spend a day at the beach, whilst ensuring that the same high standards of health and safety were implemented ashore as they are on board. We have worked to privatize three lidos with all the facilities of a beach club so that our guests can enjoy this beautiful stretch of coast in Puglia, close to Taranto. With this, we have also established a blueprint for this type of experience, and we will now work to introduce more private beach experiences at other destinations this summer.”
MSC Seaside guests can enjoy an exclusive beach experience in Taranto
Situated in the southern part of Italy in Puglia — one of the most famous and beautiful regions in the charming and sunny South of Italy — the historic port of Taranto is an undiscovered gem. MSC Cruises guests will be able to enjoy a day relaxing day at a Blue Flag[1] beach that offers fine sand and a gentle southern breeze at the edge of the crystal blue waters of the Ionian Sea.
Three lidos on the Marina di Taranto will be exclusively available for MSC Cruises guests on the day that the ship is in port, and “bubble transfers” will be on hand to take guests to the beach and back to the ship at fixed times throughout the day. The lidos are equipped with convenient beach club facilities — with umbrellas and lounge chairs, a bar and restaurant, bathroom facilities, showers and changing rooms. Guests will have peace of mind that the health and safety measures at the beach will follow the same high standards as on board — all they need do is relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea.
Mr Onorato continued, “We are very pleased to be able to introduce yet another new destination with Taranto to our itineraries this summer. We have been working in close collaboration with the local authorities to offer a range of different protected shore excursions to enable our guests to discover this beautiful part of Italy, offering something for all types of traveler from visits to historic sites, taking in the stunning countryside through to enjoying the regional gastronomy and of course, a day at the beach.”
A range of different protected shore excursions are available in Taranto, including:
Taranto City Tour: Guests will discover the "city of the two seas," as Taranto is often referred to. Founded by the Greek in the VIII century B.C., Taranto was one of the most important cities in Magna Graecia and traces of the Greek colonization are still left today.
The "Sassi" In Matera: Visitors can see the city of the wonderful "Sassi" caves, and the first town in the world to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. These caves were inhabited from the Neolithic times right up until 1952. Perhaps because of its unique and tangible history, the atmosphere here is extraordinary and the place exudes a mystic air.
Alberobello: Famous for the whitewashed trulli buildings, this town in the Puglia region forms the top of the "heel" of the boot of Italy. Thanks to its distinctive round stone houses with conical roofs, known as "trulli," Alberobello was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1996. This tour includes a guided walk through the streets of this unusual village.
Lecce, the famous Baroque town: Cruisers enjoy a visit to a place that is often called "the Florence of the south," the lovely old Apulian town of Lecce, which was influenced and shaped by periods of Roman, Greek, Ostrogoth and Norman rule.
Art and Flavors of Puglia: Grottaglie is the first destination in this discovery of Puglia's art and traditions. Visitors enjoy a guided walk around the city center en route to the ceramic district to visit a ceramic workshop and admire the famous pottery Grottaglie is known for.
Ostuni and its oil mill: "The white lady" stands on three hills in the area of Murge. It was an important Greek – Roman city in the first century AD. The picturesque medieval village with its white houses, winding streets and cobbled alleyways dominates the plains below. The tour includes a visit to a typical oil mill with a tasting session of olive oil.
MSC Seaside to call another new destination, Siracusa in Sicily
MSC Seaside will also call at another new destination for MSC Cruises, the Sicilian port of Siracusa where guests can discover the rich historical and archaeological sites in this area, including the Greek theater of Siracusa the biggest ever built in Sicily and one of the largest in the Greek world or immerse themselves in the beautiful countryside and baroque cities where the world-famous Inspector Montalbano films are shot. For those seeking the perfect panoramas, experience Europe’s largest volcano Mount Etna withthrilling and unforgettable views and the ancient splendors of beautiful Taormina.
MSC Cruises’ exclusive experiences for guests extend to The Bahamas at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve

The island — exclusive to MSC Cruises guests — surrounded by 64 square miles of marine reserve, offering guests a unique opportunity to discover local marine life, soak up the spirit of Bahamian culture and reconnect with themselves and each other.

And, with ships frequently docked at the island from early morning into the evening — and in many instances overnight — guests can watch the sunset at a beachside picnic or star gaze.
MSC Seaside, one of MSC Cruises’ most iconic ships
MSC Seaside rewrote the book on cruise ship design, with an industry-first design that combined indoor and outdoor areas to connect guests with the sea like never before with generous outdoor spaces, deck space and pools. The waterfront boardwalk, located closer to the sea on Deck 8 is a unique seafront promenade where guests can relax, sunbathe or sip cocktails. The ship features the MSC Yacht Club for those looking for exclusivity and privacy with the facilities of a private club and a 24/7 butler service. This ship is specifically designed for warmer weather and is best enjoyed outdoors, making this the perfect ship for the start of summer in the Mediterranean when the climate is at its best.
MSC Seaside’s current itinerary has been extended through to the end of July along with MSC Grandiosa’s current itinerary. MSC Seaside and MSC Grandiosa itineraries are currently available to residents from Schengen countries and Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania.[2]
In the U.S., MSC Cruises will only restart operations when the time is right, following approval by the CDC and other relevant authorities across the region in observance of their requirements and guidelines.

Company Spearheads Multiple Donation Efforts to Benefit Nonprofits in Europe, Australia, The UK and The Americas
MIAMI (April 20, 2021) - Norwegian Cruise Line, the innovator in global cruise travel with a 54-year history of breaking boundaries, today announced its global donation efforts in providing more than $2 million in humanitarian relief to support various community organizations worldwide.
Over the course of 2020, NCL has continued to work with domestic and international organizations in the destinations it visits to provide much needed aid including water and non-perishable and canned goods. The Company's latest donation efforts, carried out during April's current Global Volunteer Month delivered 10 pallets of responsibly packaged, plant-based cartons of JUST Water to benefit the Southeast Alaska Food Bank.
"At Norwegian Cruise Line, people are at the heart of everything we do, from our guests and travel partners to our nearly 30,000 shoreside and onboard team members worldwide," said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. "Although we did not sail for the majority of last year, we remained committed to the people that sail aboard and operate our ships as well as the people in the wonderful destinations we visit. In addition to managing through the global pandemic, many of them were affected by natural disasters and food insecurity, and I'm proud that our organization was able to rally and provide much needed support to directly make a difference."
Throughout 2020 and into 2021, NCL participated in numerous humanitarian efforts worldwide. The Brand donated:
$250,000 Australian dollars with the support of its parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund to support emergency relief efforts for communities affected by the unprecedented bushfires in the region
more than a dozen pallets of dry and frozen foods to the Dutch food bankVoedselbanken Nederland and the Italian nonprofit Pane Quotidiano in Milan, Italy
five pallets of JUST Water cartons and more than 6,350 cases of yogurt to the Urban Renewal Commission in Freeport, Bahamas
790 kosher meals to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation
150,000 JUST Water cartons to Feeding South Florida, City Harvest New York and Food Bank for New York City
nearly $275,000 in much needed relief supply to support community organizations in the Archipelago of San Andrés region in Colombia that were devastated by Category 5 Hurricane Iota. The donations included 32,000 carton bottles of JUST Water and nearly 262,000 pounds (119,000 kilograms) in non-perishable and canned goods to benefit the Foundation Pro Archipelago and Foundation for the Islands of Old Providence and Santa Catalina, Inc. over $225,000 in dry goods and foods to benefit Belizean families and other southern communities in the Stann Creek District of Belize City. The donation helped local citizens economically impacted by the effects of the global pandemic to the local tourism and cruise industry. Belize is the home of the Company's private resort destination Harvest Caye
16 truckloads of JUST Water to benefit 17 Feeding America member food banks and other nonprofit organizations in the U.S. located in areas ravaged by severe winter storms. The donation was a joint effort among NCL, JUST® Goods, Inc.and The Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation (WJSFF)
By the end of 2021, Norwegian Cruise Line will have donated more than $1.2 million in nonperishable food and water to Feeding America’s local Miami food bank Feeding South Florida.
"JUST was honored to work with Norwegian Cruise Line on multiple occasions in recent months to distribute water to those who need it," said Kara Rubin, vice president of brand & product strategy at JUST Goods, Inc. "Both JUST and NCL are committed to our communities and to sustainability. We’re proud to be able to work together to continue that support, especially during such a challenging period."
"We are grateful for community partners like Norwegian Cruise Line, which provided over 800,000 pounds (362,874 kilograms) of healthy and nutritious food to individuals and families in South Florida," said Sari Vatske, executive vice president of Feeding South Florida. "Currently, one in six South Floridians don’t know where they will get their next meal. Donations like this help Feeding South Florida meet the increased demand for access to nutritious foods as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic."
To provide audiences a better understanding of the people behind the brand’s philanthropic efforts and offer an intimate look into how NCL collaborates with the many community partners it supports, the Company leveraged its "EMBARK with NCL" platform to create the "EMBARK Stories: Feeding South Florida." The approximate three-minute video showcases how the company has helped Feeding South Florida during the pandemic. Watch the story at www.ncl.com/embark.
In addition to the Brand's global donation efforts, and in the spirit of giving back during Global Volunteer Month and all year long, as part of the Company's ongoing commitment to family and community, all fulltime NCLH U.S. shoreside employees are offered a Paid Volunteer Day where team members are given the opportunity to take eight hours of paid time off per calendar year to participate as volunteers in nonprofit programs in their local community. Also, as part of the Company's Workplace Giving Program, NCLH is proud to support four organizations by offering employees the opportunity to make automatic recurring or one-time payments through payroll deductions. The Company will match each team member's contribution up to $1,000 per year. The four nonprofit organizations include All Hands and Hearts, Kids in Distress, American Cancer Society and Virlanie.
