MIAMI, March 19, 2021 – Azamara, the upmarket, boutique cruise line dedicated to Destination Immersion® experiences today announced the name and vessel handover of its new ship, Azamara Onward. The vessel handover, which took place on March 15, 2021, coincides with Azamara’s transition into an independent brand and cruise company.
“Today marks a new beginning for Azamara, as we increase our capacity and begin our journey as an independent cruise company. Our beautiful new ship can access smaller ports and allow us to bring our guests to even more destinations,” said President of Azamara, Carol Cabezas. “When selecting a unique name, we realized our fourth ship marks the start of a new adventure and we chose a name that celebrates the bright future ahead for the brand, our guests, and the industry as a whole.”

MSC CRUISES TO RESTART OPERATIONS IN THE UK
Cruise line to offer British vacationers a range of summer sailings around the UK
Cruise line to offer British vacationers a range of summer sailings around the UK
Cruises open to British guests of all ages and to include protected ashore excursions
All departures available for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated British guests
Geneva, Switzerland (March 19, 2021) — MSC Cruises has announced that it will offer a series of mini and week-long cruises around the UK for British guests only that will include protected shore excursions for 7-night sailings.
All voyages will welcome British families and guests of all ages — including those who have already received their vaccine against COVID-19 as well as those are still awaiting vaccination.
Gianni Onorato, CEO, MSC Cruises said, “Our experience of sailing safely and responsibly since August last year in the Mediterranean, under our industry-leading protective health and safety protocol, has given us a great deal of knowledge and data about safe cruises. Thanks to a protocol designed to be adapted to reflect the evolution of the pandemic ashore, we have carried more than 50,000 guests to-date — on cruises to Italy, Malta and Greece — who can testify to the experience of having an enjoyable holiday that catered for their wellbeing both onboard our ships and also during our pioneering protected shore excursions.”
“Following the initial phase of our restart in the Mediterranean, the next logical step for us is to make our experience available to British holidaymakers, who are passionate about cruising, as the UK plans to open up domestic travel in the second half of May.
“We also remain confident that we will soon be able to welcome British guests back on board one of our ships further afield, once current international travel restrictions are lifted and more of our ships will have restarted across the Mediterranean as well as other areas traditionally favored by the British.”
All guests will receive an antigen test prior to embarkation, while non-vaccinated guests will also be required to show proof of negative test done within 72 hours prior to embarkation. Other pre-boarding and on-board measures will also apply to both guests and crew, in line with MSC Cruises’ health and safety protocol.
The protocol, which currently applies to MSC Cruises’ ships sailing in Europe, was developed in 2020 with input from international health experts — including MSC Cruises’ ‘COVID-19 Blue-Ribbon Expert Group’ — and in close cooperation with relevant national and regional health, transport and safety authorities throughout Europe.
All departures, starting from May 20, will embark from Southampton, with details on other embarkation ports in the UK to be announced soon. In the U.S., MSC Cruises will only restart operations when the time is right, following approval by the CDC and other relevant authorities across the region in observance of their requirements and guidelines.

PAUL GAUGUIN CRUISES UNVEILS RENOVATED M/S PAUL GAUGUIN
BELLEVUE, Wash. – March 17, 2021 – Paul Gauguin Cruises, operator of the highest-rated and longest continually sailing luxury cruise ship in the South Pacific, the m/s Paul Gauguin, is pleased to announce a ship renovation, featuring luxurious enhancements, that took place during The Gauguin’s drydock ending on March 9th in Singapore.
The vision of the renovation was to enhance The Gauguin’s elegant Polynesian signature with a chic and fresh style to enrich guests’ experience sailing the islands of Tahiti, French Polynesia, Fiji and the South Pacific.
Large Environmental Upgrades in line with Paul Gauguin Cruises’ Values
Minimizing the impact on the environment is one of the highest priorities of the company. In 2019, Paul Gauguin Cruises took two major measures in this field. The line completely eliminated the use of heavy fuel oil by using a much cleaner fuel (LS MGO – Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil) and also committed to offsetting 150 percent of its carbon emissions. The Gauguin’s most recent environmental upgrades follow this path and include water treatment and consumption optimization along with energy-saving initiatives.
An Empowering Experience Dedicated to Guests’ Highest Expectations
The Gauguin is outfitted with a look designed by Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel that evokes South Seas elegance and the storied islands that the iconic ship sails. The refurbishment enhances the historical interior of the vessel made of warm and dark woodworks and strengthens the local identity. The fresh palette incorporates lagoon shades, a wide range of green and natural tones, warm color touches, organic patterns and woven textiles. Exotic panoramas and traditional artwork transports guests into the local environment. All The Gauguin’s staterooms and suites, as well as the public spaces, were renovated: Le Grand Salon, three restaurants, Piano Bar, La Palette Lounge, Spa and Salon, Boutique, Pool Deck, and Reception area.
Ongoing Onboard Upgrades
To accompany The Gauguin’s renovation, amenities were enhanced for a full guest experience. Guests will be able to enjoy complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi and a virtual museum of over 150 paintings of artist Paul Gauguin during their voyage. These new enhancements will provide guests of The Gauguin an even more luxurious, all-inclusive experience, which encompasses dining in all three of the ship’s restaurants and 24-hour room service; complimentary beverages including select wines, beer, and spirits; and onboard gratuities for room stewards and dining staff.
The Gauguin’s Polynesian Signature
Paul Gauguin Cruises was created to provide enjoyable, meaningful, and authentic experiences with the communities, cultures, and natural wonders that make Tahiti, French Polynesia, and the South Pacific so alluring. Every detail of The Gauguin’s renovations reflect her home including the ship’s décor, artwork, special Polynesian dishes in the restaurants, enrichment programming, and cultural activities aboard led by Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins, the ship’s troupe of Tahitian ambassadors and entertainers.
Itineraries following the renovations include: 10-night Society Islands & Tuamotus; 11-night Cook Islands & Society Islands; 7-night Tahiti & the Society Islands; and 14-night Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands voyages. Guests have exclusive access to the line’s private island Motu Mahana, and a private beach in Bora Bora. Paul Gauguin Cruises offers a wide range of outdoor activities embracing the natural wonders of the South Pacific such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and SCUBA diving excursions.

Marking the occasion, the company released a time-lapse video of the work at Helsinki Shipyard that shows the ship assuming its graceful final form.
Now that the structure is complete, the cabins are already taking shape, as also revealed online today, showing the Scandi-chic comfort, rich natural materials and spacious open perspectives out to sea of the elegant designs by Tillberg of Sweden.
Balcony Lounge
The complete vision can be explored in an impressive virtual tour video released late last year.
The creatively conceived new ship represents the next generation of polar expedition vessels, designed for worldwide cruising with a strong focus on high-latitude areas. SH Minerva is being fitted with a 5-megawatt diesel-electric propulsion system with selective catalytic reduction, ready to receive 3-megawatt max. battery package and PC5 ice-strengthened hull and with Safe Return to Port notation. At 113 m, the 10,500-ton vessel has been specially designed to explore the most inspiring and inaccessible places on the planet.

Esko Karvonen, CEO of Helsinki Shipyard Inc. remarked: “We are very proud of the smooth progress made on SH Minerva, helped by its outstanding design. It is an inspiring journey to work on the remarkable first three vessels for the iconic Swan Hellenic and we are sure the guests who explore the world aboard them will also feel that.”
“We’re delighted by our partners outstanding work as we take Swan Hellenic into this exciting next chapter and look forward to meeting you on board when we head to Antarctica in November 2021” said Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito. “Join us to see what others don’t!”

Two new 5-star polar PC 5 ice-class expedition cruise ships arriving in November 2021 and April 2022 will each accommodate 152 guests in 76 spacious staterooms and suites, the majority with large balconies. VIKING ANNOUNCES MAY 2021 RESTART OF LIMITED OPERATIONS WITH DOMESTIC UK VOYAGES
Three Special Ocean Sailings for UK Guests Will Explore England’s Scenic Shores
Three Special Ocean Sailings for UK Guests Will Explore England’s Scenic Shores
Los Angeles (March 16, 2021) – Viking® (www.viking.com) announced today that it will restart limited operations in May 2021 with three special sailings along the coast of England. Available exclusively for UK residents, the new eight-day ocean itinerary—England’s Scenic Shores—will sail roundtrip from Portsmouth, with departures on May 22, May 29 and June 5, 2021. Guests on the England’s Scenic Shores itinerary will be among the first to sail on board Viking’s newest ocean ship,Viking Venus®, which will be delivered in April. Pre-registration for England’s Scenic Shores is currently open only to Viking’s loyal past guests; more details about the voyages will be released—and reservations will be available to all UK residents—in due course.
Viking was the first cruise line to suspend operations at the beginning of the pandemic, and today’s update about the official restart was triggered because the UK Government recently signalled that it will allow the resumption of domestic cruises beginning in May 2021. All other previously scheduled Viking sailings through May 31, 2021 remain cancelled.
“We welcome the UK Government’s support for the return of safe domestic cruises as an important component in the travel industry’s recovery. In recognition of this support, and to celebrate the fact we have a British godmother—the esteemed broadcaster and journalist Anne Diamond—we have chosen to name our new ship, Viking Venus, in the UK on May 17,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “We are in a position to restart operations quickly and to start sailing again in May because we have kept our ships crewed during warm lay-up throughout the past 12 months. We have been implementing our additional protocols, including daily quick and easy non-invasive saliva PCR tests for our crew, for almost six months now. With our new protocol enhancements in place, we believe there will be no safer way to travel the world than on a Viking voyage and we look forward to welcoming UK guests back on board very soon.”
Those who sail these new voyages will also experience Viking’s industry-leading health and safety program. Grounded in scientific research, the Viking Health & Safety Program was developed in partnership with an international team of medical advisors, including Raquel C. Bono, M.D., Viking’s Chief Health Officer. Dr. Bono is a board-certified trauma surgeon and retired Vice Admiral of the United States Navy Medical Corps—and most recently led Washington State’s medical and healthcare systems response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Utilizing a full-scale laboratory installed on every Viking ocean ship, all guests and crew will receive daily quick and easy non-invasive saliva PCR tests. New air purification technology has also been installed on all Viking ships, which have always featured independent air handling units for all guest staterooms. And additional health checks, sanitization and physical distancing measures will provide further protection for Viking guests and crew at all points of the journey. A complete overview of the Viking Health & Safety Program can be found at: www.viking.com/health-safety.

More than any other part of the Oceania Cruises organization, we owe our success to our onboard teams. With his trusty pups leading the charge sniffing out truffles, Matteo and his guests will enjoy a forage in the woods, two organic cookery classes and meals (with wine) using the spoils from the forest, and plenty of free time to potter in the town or relax in the expansive grounds and pool at the villa.
Rescue dog walking in LA
On Contiki’s Best of USA trip (a 13-day trip that takes in four of the USA’s must-see cities – LA, Las Vegas, Miami and New York), travelers get to take foster dogs out for a walk in the trendy Venice beach area of Los Angeles. Walking with one of the co-founders of Free Animal Doctor—a non-profit animal welfare organization – the aim is to give the rescue dogs the daily exercise they need while improving their socialization and chances of being seen and adopted. There are plenty of photo spots along the way, starting with a leisurely stroll along the canals, then along the boardwalk to see the famous Venice Beach sign, the "Touch of Venice" mural, the skate park on the beach and more. It’s a fun day out for both dogs and walkers, who get to see the city in a different way – and dog treats, leads, water bowls etc. are all provided of course. A picture below as an illustration but I am sure more ‘professional’ ones can be tracked down
Meeting champion husky dog racers in Norway
On Insight Vacations Grand Scandinavia trip (which takes in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland over 20 days) guests visit a working husky dog farm in the town of Alta within the Arctic circle in Norway. There they meet Trine Lyrek, a champion dog sledder, and her Alaskan huskies, learning about the dogs and what it takes to compete in Arctic dog sled races. Guests can spend some time playing with these adorable pups, that may grow to be the best racing dogs in the country. This is part of a wider trip that also takes in the best of Scandinavia, for example the fjords and a stop at mainland Europe's most northern point, where the sun never sets. Stand near the fence of the towering cliffs, dramatically rising out of the sea and it feels as if you are on the edge of the world – and to make the moment even more special you’ll be served a glass of champagne. Here’s some pictures of husky dogs (disclaimer, these aren’t official pics from our brand, I’ll need to track some down more for you if you’re keen)
Irish wolfhounds at Ashford Castle
And finally, for a spot of luxury, the glorious Ashford Castle in County Mayo in the west of Ireland has a pair of wolfhounds – Garvan and Cronan - that guests can meet and walk. Every day for an hour or so in the morning they come to the castle’s Oak Hall to say hello to the guests, and then guests are also able to take them for a walk in the 350-acre estate, which has a huge lake and plenty of woodland and paths to explore. Not just about dogs of course, the castle has an award-winning spa, an indoor cinema, underground wine cellars for private dining, three restaurants, a museum (the castle was once home to the Guinness family and has welcomed royalty, stars of stage and screen, sporting legends and more) and some stunning bedrooms. Outdoors it offers falconry, watersports, tree climbing, zip wiring, horseriding, cycling and more…). Check out the dogs’ Instagram account in the link above and also some pictures of the castle below.
