Silversea Expands Rebooking Options
The luxury brand adds additional options to its cash refund policy
The luxury brand adds additional options to its cash refund policy
(Monaco – March 6, 2020) Following the relaxation of Silversea’s cancellation policies for the benefit of guests, launched on March 5th, the leading ultra-luxury cruise line is going further by also embracing the Royal Caribbean Group’s ‘Cruise with Confidence’ initiative. Guests on cruises departing before July 31st, 2020 now have the additional option of cancelling their voyage as late as 48 hours prior to sailing.
Silversea’s existing cancellation policy offers guests long-term peace of mind on all sailings departing between June 1st and December 31st, 2020, while the ‘Cruise with Confidence’ policy covers upcoming voyages in the coming weeks.
“Silversea always strives to exceed our guests’ expectations and we appreciate how the fluid Covid-19 situation requires unprecedented flexibility in booking and cancelling our voyages, to ensure our guests can make the right choice for them at the right time,” said Roberto Martinoli, CEO of Silversea. “This is why we welcome RCCL’s incredible ‘Cruise with Confidence’ program, as it allows us to offer additional options to all guests currently booked on a Silversea sailing.”
Thanks to the addition of the ‘Cruise with Confidence’ options to the existing Silversea cancellation policies, Silversea is now offering one of the most comprehensive rebooking policies in the industry.
For all voyages departing before July 31st, 2020, including both existing and future bookings, the new ‘Cruise with Confidence’ policy will enable travelers to cancel their sailings as late as two days before departure, providing guests with a Future Cruise Credit. For all sailings departing after July 31st until December 31st, 2020, a 30-day prior to sailing cash cancellation option will be in place. Guests booked on sailings between June 1st, 2020 and July 31st, 2020 will have a range of options from which to choose.
Please refer to www.silversea.com for all applicable terms and conditions.
Silversea Cruises Eases Cancellation Policies Allowing for Maximum Flexibility for Its Guests
(Monaco – March 5, 2020) Silversea Cruises has temporarily eased its new booking and cancellation policies, providing travelers with additional time to evaluate their travel plans with the leading ultra-luxury cruise line in this moment of uncertainty surrounding travel.
Travelers who make new bookings on sailings departing between June 1 and December 31, 2020, will be able to cancel until just 30 days prior to departure, paying only a customary administrative fee on the cruise fare. Additionally, Silversea will negotiate on guests’ behalf for the same cancellation options on other components of the booking such as air travel, hotels and shore excursions. However, Silversea does not have control over these third-party suppliers, and, therefore, different terms may apply for these specific components.
“Traveling the world with Silversea should never be a source of anxiety,” says Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s Chief Executive Officer. “For this reason, and to ease the minds of our guests and trade partners, we have temporarily relaxed our new booking and cancellation policies. This period of uncertainty is for sure going to ease eventually, but as the situation evolves, we are pleased to provide our guests with more time to decide whether or not to travel.”

Regent Seven Seas Cruises® Christens Ship That Perfects Luxury – Seven Seas Splendor™
Gala Celebration Features Ship’s Godmother, Supermodel and Actress Christie Brinkley, and GRAMMY Award-Winning Artist, Seal
Gala Celebration Features Ship’s Godmother, Supermodel and Actress Christie Brinkley, and GRAMMY Award-Winning Artist, Seal
MIAMI (Feb. 24, 2020) -- Regent Seven Seas Cruises®, the world’s leading luxury ocean cruise line, hosted an elegant and glamorous christening gala in Miami to welcome its newest ship that defines Luxury Perfected, Seven Seas SplendorTM. Images of the ship and christening ceremony are available here.
Exclusive guests, including travel partners, local community leaders, media and luxury travelers, were invited to the private black-tie evening ceremony on board Seven Seas Splendor to celebrate the all-suite, all-balcony luxury cruise ship. In addition, more than 35,000 people watched the ceremony broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube.
“Seven Seas Splendor is the epitome of luxury perfected,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “Every ship we launch gets even better, and Seven Seas Splendor is magnificent. The collaboration between the designers, engineers, craftsmen, hotel and restaurant teams, and the crew onboard, all brings the renowned Regent experience to life on this beautiful ship. Seven Seas Splendor is a celebration of excellence, friendship, success and luxury.”
Seven Seas Splendor is helmed by 30-year veteran Captain Serena Melani, the first woman to captain a newly built ocean cruise ship. In acknowledging this pioneering honor during her remarks, Captain Melani told the audience following a standing ovation that women can achieve any goal with perseverance and hard work, and that the ship’s 550 crew members deserve recognition for providing luxury travelers with the highest levels of personalized service and comfort on board.
Another woman trailblazer followed Captain Melani on stage. Honorary Godmother Christie Brinkley delivered the traditional maritime blessing -- “I hereby name this ship Seven Seas Splendor. May God bless her an all who sail on her” -- which officially christened the vessel. The world-famous supermodel, glamorous actress, proud mother and successful entrepreneur then depressed a button which sent a 15-liter Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut champagne smashing against the ship’s hull to symbolically welcome the newest member of the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet.
“Gorgeous is the word I use to describe Seven Seas Splendor,” Brinkley said. “All the details on this ship are amazing, from the artistic style of the Italian marble, the artwork and chandeliers, to the sculpture of the mythical dragon outside Pacific Rim. Every inch of this light and bright ship is filled with luxurious details. My parents had cruised on Regent ships. If they were here today, they would be so excited and proud for me to be Godmother to Seven Seas Splendor.”
To conclude the celebration, guests were treated to an unforgettable concert by four-time GRAMMY-award winning British singer-songwriter, Seal, whose performance wowed the audience. Seal’s multi-genre set featured his hit songs “Kiss From A Rose” and “Crazy,” as well as classics from his most recent 2017 album Standards, which was inspired by his love of Rat Pack-era jazz, swing, and rhythm and blues. He performed several Frank Sinatra signature songs, including “Luck Be A Lady,” “That’s Life” and “It Was a Very Good Year,” as well as Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and the classic R&B song, “I Put a Spell on You.”
About Seven Seas Splendor
“Seven Seas Splendor reflects the extraordinary length to which Regent Seven Seas Cruises delivers An Unrivaled Experience for guests across our fleet, with every luxury included,” said Jason Montague, the cruise line’s president and chief executive officer. “Guests marvel at her impeccable design, luxurious suites, exquisite cuisine, immersive experiences at hundreds of ports-of-call, dynamic entertainment and outstanding, personalized service. Guests in the Regent Suite also delight in first-class air accommodations, a dedicated personal butler to manage all the details of the guests’ experience, and a personal car with driver and guide in every port.
Seven Seas Splendor features a Culinary Arts Kitchen with 18 stations for hands-on gourmet cooking classes presented by master chef instructors, and Serene Spa & Wellness™, a new globally inspired spa brand created for Seven Seas Splendor offering exclusive treatments that integrate techniques and ingredients from destinations around the world to soothe both the body and mind.
The ship’s exquisite restaurants include Compass Rose, the largest specialty restaurant at sea; Pacific Rim, a dramatic Pan-Asian restaurant with a mythical dragon greeting guests; Prime 7, an intimate and elegant steakhouse; Chartreuse, featuring classic French fare with a modern twist; and Sette Mari at La Veranda, serving guests authentic Italian specialties and featuring stunning, over-water alcove seating that juts out over the ocean for an even closer connection to the sea, surrounded on three sides by inspiring, magnificent views.
This winter, Seven Seas Splendor cruises the tropical paradises of the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera, which includes two crossings of the Panama Canal and one unique Southern Caribbean cruise from Miami to New York City. Windstar believes vacations enrich people’s lives. The new Travel Assurance Booking Policy is an extra effort to ensure travelers feel comfortable booking a well-deserved cruise vacation now without fearing loss should they need to cancel.
Windstar’s Travel Assurance Booking Policy automatically applies to new and existing cruises departing on or after June 1, 2020 through December 31, 2021.
Travelers who cancel a cruise booking up to 15 days prior to departure will receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit to be used on another Windstar departure within one year of the issue date of the credit. The offer is good for cruise fare only.
Current health precautions and policies
Windstar Cruises has implemented an enhanced health screening questionnaire for guests and crew to screen for possible coronavirus COVID-19. Additionally, crew travel through mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea has been suspended. No one will be allowed to board a Windstar ship who in the 30 days prior to embarkation has been in or traveled from or through China, Hong Kong, Macau, or South Korea, or has had close contact with anyone suspected or diagnosed as having coronavirus COVID-19. Prior to boarding a ship, all passengers and crew will be administered a no-touch thermal scan to screen for fever. Anyone with a fever (≥38 C°/100.4 F°) will not be allowed to board the ship.
Out of an abundance of caution, Windstar has cancelled all Asia sailings in 2020.
The safety and security of guests and crew are the utmost priority at Windstar Cruises. Windstar’s knowledgeable team may make additional deployment changes based on current events.
Windstar operates a fleet of six small yachts carrying from 148 to 342 guests on voyages around the world. During summer 2020 travelers can join a coastal cruise sailing along the U.S. West Coast or sail in Alaska, Greece, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, or Tahiti and the South Pacific.
In May 2020, Star Breeze will be the first of three yachts emerging from a $250 million Star Plus Initiative with a lengthened ship featuring two new restaurants, a larger spa and fitness center, expanded pool and fifty new suites. Star Legend and Star Pride follow in August and November. The 342 guest Wind Surf underwent a major refurbishment in fall 2019.

MIAMI, February 27, 2020 – Today, Crystal announced that it has selected the French skincare company, Caudalie, to furnish the line’s bath amenities across its entire fleet of award-winning ships. Representing the very best in French-made skincare, Caudalie’s products are natural, luxurious and highly effective. Originating in Bordeaux, the brand uses grape seed extracts to create its proprietary formulas made with powerful antioxidant benefits while being highly naturally formulated. They are free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils, sodium laureth sulfate, synthetic coloring agents and animal-based ingredients (except honey and beeswax).
“Caudalie’s philosophy of constant innovation and development of better techniques and products to benefit customers and the environment is one with which Crystal closely aligns,” said Toni Neumeister, Crystal’s senior vice president of hotel operations. “The quality of the products is in line with what is found in the world’s finest spas and hotels, all created with the health of people and the planet in mind. We are thrilled to partner with Caudalie and are certain that guests will love the new amenities.”
Beginning in the spring of 2020 aboard the sister ships of Crystal River Cruises, refillable bottles of Caudalie shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion will be placed in every guest suite, followed in the summer aboard Crystal Esprit and in the fall on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity and will be aboard Crystal Endeavor at launch.
“We are extremely excited for the Caudalie brand to be part of the Crystal family. Both brands are synonymous with quality, excellence and guest satisfaction,” said Bertrand Thomas, who founded the Caudalie brand with his wife Mathilde. “We cannot wait for Crystal’s guests to be able to use our line of products in such an idyllic setting.”
Caudalie’s luxurious bath amenities are eco-friendly with packaging that is made with plant-based plastics and/or recycled paper whenever possible. Crystal’s guest will continue to enjoy ETRO bathrobes and slippers.
Additional Sustainable Amenities Initiatives
In addition to the new bathroom shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion, Crystal has reimagined other amenities with a careful consideration to sustainability. Disposable shower caps made with biodegradable corn will be placed in each guest bathroom, while non-plastic cotton swabs are also currently being sourced. Shoe cloths placed in all guest closets are made of responsibly farmed cotton and accompany the reusable fabric laundry and dry-cleaning bags Crystal introduced years ago. Single-use plastic sewing kits will also be replaced with fully stocked sewing baskets crafted from wood upon request.
Silversea Showcases the Best of Antarctica, Photographed by Steve Mccurry for the Very First Time
The iconic photographer travelled deep into the White Continent aboard Silversea’s Silver Cloud
The iconic photographer travelled deep into the White Continent aboard Silversea’s Silver Cloud
(Monaco – February 26, 2020) Legendary photographer Steve McCurry has photographed Antarctica for the first time in his career, travelling to the White Continent on a 10-day sailing from December 10, 2019, aboard Silversea’s Silver Cloud.
McCurry crossed the Drake Passage to capture inspiring images of the Antarctic Sound, the Antarctic Peninsula, and the South Shetland Islands. His spectacular images reflect Antarctica’s unique natural beauty, the captivating wildlife that inhabits the region, the unforgettable experiences on offer here, and the unique talents of one of the world’s foremost visual storytellers.
“Antarctica is unlike any other destination in the world. It felt like I was on another planet,” says McCurry. “I left Ushuaia excited to see huge icebergs and alien landscapes, but Antarctica’s diverse ecosystem greeted me with so much more—whales, seabirds, penguins, and seals, plus vast glaciers and relics of history, frozen in time. Being able to experience the continent so authentically, while accompanied by experts in their field, was an experience that will live with me forever.”
Among the highlights of his expedition, McCurry quotes up-close encounters with whales and elephant seals as his most memorable—the animals willingly approached the photographer, yet McCurry maintained a safe and respectful distance to avoid disturbing them.
"We had some incredible encounters with elephant seals, which were fascinating,” continues McCurry. “They are such enormous creatures with big beautiful eyes and wonderful expressions—so full of emotion."
Another of McCurry’s highlights was the opportunity to travel with Silversea’s Expedition Experts, who enriched his experience with their extensive and broad-ranging knowledge. The photographer attended topical lectures in Silver Cloud’s Explorer Lounge, delivered by Silversea’s Expedition Team, before journeying ashore on one of the ship’s 18 Zodiacs to discover the natural beauty of Antarctica first-hand.
“Being accompanied by experts in their field taught me a lot about what I was experiencing, which enriched the experience,” says McCurry. “I always looked forward to all the lectures and learning about this unique part of the world. I spent many enjoyable meals talking to these experts and scientists, learning about the region."
"The abandoned whaling station we visited on the South Shetland Islands was very interesting. The region has numerous whaling stations, scientific bases, and way stations that have been abandoned. They are now covered in snow and ice, but still serve as remarkable time capsules. I saw an airplane hangar, dormitory, cemetery and huge oil storage tanks."
“A master of his art, Steve McCurry is the perfect storyteller to capture the authentic beauty of Antarctica for our guests,” says Barbara Muckermann, Silversea’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Antarctica is a unique destination, but Steve was certainly up to the challenge. His curiosity reflects that of our guests, as does his yearning to travel deeper to discover rare and authentic moments. Aboard Silver Cloud, Steve did exactly this and his inspiring images perfectly capture the range of unique experiences that our industry-leading Expedition Team unlocks for guests.”
SILVER CLOUD: IMMERSIVE EXPEDITION TRAVEL IN SUPERLATIVE COMFORT
Steve McCurry travelled to Antarctica aboard Silver Cloud in superlative comfort, enjoying a spacious, ocean-view suite and all-inclusive amenities, including sumptuous cuisine in four fine restaurants; an in-suite 24-hour dining service; the personalized service of a butler; complimentary premium wines and spirits, speciality coffees, bottled water, juices and soft drinks served throughout the ship; an in-suite bar, stocked with guests' preferred beverages; and complimentary Wi-Fi. As well as a fleet of 18 Zodiacs, Silver Cloud carries 10 kayaks to enable travelers to explore a destination from the water at their own pace.
ANTARCTICA BRIDGE: THE MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAST CONTINENT
Silversea recently brought innovation to Polar travel by launching Antarctica Bridge, the world’s first ultra-luxury fly-cruise to the White Continent. Enjoying direct flights from Chile’s Punta Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica from December 2021, travelers will fly 670 nm (1,240 km) over the Drake Passage on a private plane – reserved exclusively for Silversea’s guests – that has been specially adapted to land on King George Island. Hosted by Silversea representatives and offering travelers the comfort of a business-class configuration, the flight will take just two hours each way, meaning guests will avoid approximately four days at sea on the return journey. A bespoke in-flight entertainment program, which will include Zodiac and IAATO briefings, will be tailored entirely for Antarctic expeditions to prepare guests for the unique adventure ahead. Travelers will then spend five full days—the same amount of time as on Silversea’s traditional Antarctica voyages—travelling deep into the destination, accompanied by Silversea’s team of Expedition Experts.
In the next Antarctica season, three Silversea ships will unlock immersive experiences in Antarctica for guests from October 28, 2020, including the then newly converted ice-classed Silver Wind; Silver Explorer, which will journey to the Ross Sea on a once-in-a-lifetime voyage; and Silver Cloud.
