FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 17, 2024 –Atlas Ocean Voyages announces Polar Expeditions by Atlas™ to Antarctica beginning October 2025 to March 2026 are now available for bookings. Offering 37 departures aboard the expedition yacht fleet of World Voyager™, World Navigator®, and World Traveller™, this will mark the third season featuring the entire Atlas Ocean Voyages fleet in the region.

Most expeditions sail roundtrip from Ushuaia, Argentina, while others offer the option of 7-night Drake Express expeditions departing from Punta Arenas, Chile.   • The “Crossing the Antarctic Circle” expeditions sail 11 nights roundtrip from Ushuaia and feature up to six days at the Antarctic Peninsula, including multiple Captain’s Choice landings and Zodiac safari experiences. Departures are available onNovember 141820December 11728, 2025 and January 25February 21420March 8, 2026.

  • For a more immersive experience of the Seventh Continent without crossing the Drake Passage, guests can choose from two 7-night “Drake Express Expedition” sailings roundtrip from King George Island (departing on December 2 or December 9, 2025). Plus, an additional 7-night Drake Express Expedition departs from Ushuaia on November 25, 2025. It ends in King George Island, so that explorers can still experience sailing the Drake Passage one way and then enjoy a private charter air flight back to Punta Arenas. All Drake Express expeditions concluding in Punta Arenas include a post-cruise hotel night stay.

  • In response to overwhelming interest, we're thrilled to announce two 18-night "Grand Antarctica & Beyond" Expedition showcases. The Kayats are an avid traveling duo who have sailed frequently together. Mike also traveled a great deal during his time as a technology company executive. Before that, he worked as a research astrophysicist in X-ray astronomy, using sounding rockets to investigate supernovae. He holds a PhD in physics from Leicester University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. His wife, Jane, has enjoyed a diverse career that includes teaching high school French and German, being an air stewardess on two international airlines, and being a partner of a home furnishing store. She holds a degree in Education from London University and double majored in French and German at the California Luther University. She enjoys home decorating, painting, and spending time with her two grandchildren. Together, their presentations may cover topics such as navigational astronomy, including the history of how the Arawaks and Caribs developed it. 

David Stansfield

David Stansfield has studied international and comparative politics, but his passion is Latin American studies. He loves sharing his knowledge of this region’s cultures through engaging yet approachable lectures that invite explorers to open up to new perspectives, bringing a sense of intrigue to every topic

Professor Andrew Hopkins, an expert in architecture and art, holds a PhD from the Courtauld Institute and has a great deal of experience in destination lectures. From talks on Scotland’s Viking history to Reykjavík’s vibrant Icelandic culture, he brings the past to life and sparks curiosity.

Dr. Aaron Hunter is a paleontologist with expertise in fossils and prehistoric life. He has vast experience as a guide, lecturer, and visiting researcher across various institutions, including the University of Cambridge. He holds a PhD from the University of London.

Educated at Cambridge, Newcastle, and Imperial College, Andy Bunten then embarked on a career in nature conservation. He has worked for local government, wildlife trusts, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). An experienced lecturer, he has cruised extensively, completing over 20 trips.

Dr. Barbara Udell

Dr. Barbara Udell is an international speaker with a Doctorate in Behavioral Health Education and a master's degree in social work. She is the former Director of Lifestyle Education at the Pritikin Longevity Center, an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and a certified scuba diver.

Dr. Barry Walsh qualified as a doctor in Ireland at the University of Cork in 1981, specializing in Medical Microbiology. He has worked as a professional Blue Badge tour guide in London since 2000 with an emphasis on medical and art history tours.

Bob Smolik is a veteran diplomat and scholar who has worked around the world at U.S. Embassies. He is the University of Michigan’s Diplomat in Residence and an expert in economics and trade. He has worked in more than 30 countries as an international lecturer on anti-corruption and good governance.

Professor Williams earned his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Wales (Swansea). He is the Emeritus Professor of Petroleum Geology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and is currently Adjunct Professor of Geology at UC Dublin in Ireland. He has made TV appearances and presented Radio 4 programs for the BBC.

Professor David Drewry is an Honorary Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University where he was previously Director of the Scott Polar Research Institute. His research includes environmental science and the polar regions. He has led expeditions to Antarctica, where he even has a mountain and a glacier named after him.

ATLAS OCEAN VOYAGES’ NEW EXPEDITION YACHT WORLD TRAVELLER TO VISIT THE ARCTIC & ICELAND

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., February 22, 2023 – For summer 2023 Atlas Ocean Voyages’ new expedition yacht World Traveller will visit the Arctic, Norwegian Fjords, Iceland, and Greenland on six, 8- to 13-night expeditions. The Polar Category C- and Ice Class 1B-certified vessel – which debuted in November 2022 – offers gourmet cuisine, luxurious staterooms and suites and gracious service. Prices start from $7,999 and the second guest sails free.

Depending on the itinerary, plans call for up to two outings daily, where guests can see wildlife and ice formations up-close via Zodiac boats, specifically designed for exploration use. The precise landing sites are based on weather and wildlife sightings and will be determined by the Expedition Leader in consultation with ship’s captain.

A 13- and 11-night expedition, Aug. 6 and Aug. 19 respectively, sails round-trip from Longyearbyen, the world’s northernmost port. An 8-night expedition, Aug. 11, operates from Tromso, Norway, to the Svalbard archipelago. A 10-night expedition, Aug. 30, takes the ship from Spitsbergen to Iceland. World Traveller will then offer a 9-night Iceland circumnavigation, round-trip from Reykjavik, Sept. 9, before heading south Sept. 18 on an 8-night expedition to Edinburgh, Scotland, via the British Isles.

The expedition team comprised of naturalists, biologists, ornithologists, and scientists from other disciplines will be aboard to share insights and enrich the journey. With one field guide for every 20 people, guests are assured a highly personalized learning experience. Tanya brings nearly 30 years of sales and marketing experience in the cruise industry and will lead Atlas’ Sales strategy, with a focus on developing, expanding and fostering Atlas’ relationships with its valued travel advisor partners. She will also support the Marketing strategy as the brand continues to grow partnerships; receive new ships; and expand deployment.

Tanya is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds an MBA.

World Navigator and World Traveller Continue to Deliver Once-in-a-lifetime, Luxe-adventure Expeditions to Seventh Continent

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA., June 2, 2022 – Atlas Ocean Voyages opened its winter 2023-24 Antarctica season for sale today, offering experienced travelers more once-in-a-lifetime expeditions to this remote and bucket-list destination for a third season. From November 2023 through March 2024, small luxury expedition ships World Navigator and World Traveller will return to the Seventh Continent to deliver breathtaking landscapes, penguins, seals, whales, seabirds, and other wildlife that can only be witnessed there. Travelers can choose among 23 voyages, ranging from nine to 20 nights, nearly all departing round-trip from Ushuaia, Argentina. World Navigatorwill offer Antarctic Peninsula voyages while World Travellerembarks on more comprehensive Antarctic regional expeditions. On World Navigator and World Traveller’s Antarctica expeditions, guests can expect up to two outings from the ship daily, depending on weather and sea conditions. The ships’ Captains monitor onboard weather and underwater sensors and meteorological forecasts to plan for safe passage and harbors for guests to go ashore or enjoy waterborne safaris aboard zodiacs to sight marine wildlife and iceberg formations, as well as opted for kayaking and paddleboarding.

Qualified expedition team members escort guests for all off-ship experiences and each member of the expedition team represents an academic specialty, such as ornithology, marine biology, history, environmental sciences, mountaineering and others, and offer guests greater depth and breadth to their expedition. At times, weather and sea conditions can change rapidly and the Captain may change course or landing sites to avoid risk to guests and the ship.

World Navigator will offer 13 Antarctica departures beginning on November 9, 2023. Travelers can choose from nine- and 11-night itineraries that focus on the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Guests will enjoy four days exploring Antarctica on the nine-night voyages while the 11-night voyages offer six days cruising the region and cross into the Antarctic Circle to earn membership in the Order of the Blue Nose. Both itineraries also include a scenic cruise by Cape Horn, Chile, the southernmost point of South America.

At the end of the season, World Navigator will embark on March 15, 2024, for a special 14-night itinerary that combines the Falkland Islands and the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. There, guests will have opportunities to catch sightings of the thriving marine wildlife that have grown accustomed to warmer climes, including the King Penguin. The itinerary also calls at Punta del Este and Montevideo, Uruguay, and concludes with an overnight in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

For her part, World Traveller brings the explorers on 13-, 16- and 20-night immersive expeditions that offer a combination of the Antarctic Peninsula, the South Shetland Islands, Diego Ramirez Islands, Falkland Islands, and South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. Nearly all World Travellerexpeditions in Antarctica include a passage through the Lemaire Channel, considered one of the most dramatic Antarctic landscapes ever traveled and venture across the Antarctica Circle.

World Traveller also offers two unique trans-Atlantic crossings to bookend her Antarctica season. The 12-night, westbound itinerary departs October 24, 2023, from the Canary Islands, Spain, to Recife, Brazil, via Western Africa, with calls at Dakhla, Western Sahara; Dakar, Senegal; and Banjul, the Gambia. To conclude her season, World Traveller departs on March 13, 2024, from Ushuaia to Cape Town, South Africa on a 19-night voyage. Guests enjoy two days in the Falkland Islands, three days in the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, and three days in Tristan da Cunha, the world’s most remote inhabited archipelago located deep in the Southern Atlantic.
