(Miami, FL -- July 31, 2019) To enrich the traveling experience for the cruise line’s guests, Silversea Cruises today announces a collaboration with legendary lifestyle brand Lalique. Founded in 1888, Lalique is celebrated for its exquisite jewelry, decorative items, interior design, perfumes, and artworks. Silversea and Lalique are united in their unwavering commitment to bespoke luxury, exceptional quality, and timeless elegance.
Using French know-how and fine craftsmanship honed over generations, Lalique will produce decorative crystal artworks to enhance the designs of La Dame restaurants aboard two Silversea ships: Silver Shadow, which will undergo an extensive renovation in November 2019, and Silver Moon, which is due to launch in August 2020. Silversea’s La Dame restaurants serve French gourmet cuisine in an elegant, refined setting, offering the perfect canvas for Lalique’s world-famous artistry.
On both Silver Moon and Silver Shadow, the restaurants’ designs will be enriched by the installation of several handmade Lalique crystal panels. The works of art will be entirely bespoke, with each taking approximately three months to craft. Positioned at the restaurants’ entrances and along their walls, the hand-crafted panels will incorporate two main motifs, both of which were imagined by Lalique’s Founder, René Lalique, in 1935: one is the Masque de Femme, a design which reveals the face of a mysterious nymph with delicate features, surrounded by aquatic life; the other is Coutard -- its geometric pattern representing a spray of fine transparent water droplets and evoking the appearance of waves in the ocean to aptly strengthen the aquatic theme. The symmetrical layout of the panels will be reminiscent of traditional design, found in French gardens and castles. And, in a first for the master glassmakers of Lalique, the panels will not require a metal frame, providing a lighter feel that will highlight the crystal composition. Lalique has conceived this innovative design feature for Silversea.
"We are delighted to have collaborated with Lalique, a brand that shares our passion for quality and elegance," says Manfredi Lefebvre, Silversea's Executive Chairman. "This unique collaboration will elevate further still the aesthetic of La Dame, enriching an already extraordinary dining experience for our guests and enhancing the levels of luxury and innovation on board that have become customary for Silversea Cruises."
Silvio Denz, Chairman and CEO of Lalique: “We are proud to collaborate with Silversea, the leading pioneer in ultra-luxury cruising, which like Lalique is committed to creating a bespoke experience of the highest quality. Furthermore, this collaboration is in perfect accordance with Lalique’s heritage, as in 1935 René Lalique participated in the interior design of the first-class dining room of the luxury ocean liner Le Normandie. We are thrilled that today Lalique’s iconic designs will be featured aboard the Silver Shadow and Silver Moon.”
During Silver Shadow’s extensive refurbishment in November 2019, La Dame will be remodelled and expanded to accommodate up to 40 diners, ensuring that all guests have the opportunity to experience the venue’s exceptional dining experience. Aboard Silver Moon, La Dame will be positioned on deck 8 and will greatly increase in size compared to Silver Muse’s La Dame, welcoming almost triple the number of guests.
When Silver Moon launches, she will whisper luxury and exude Italian elegance, offering guests a superlatively comfortable cruise experience. Maintaining the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodations that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience, Silver Moon will unlock deep travel experiences for guests, as they enjoy Silversea’s industry-leading service. A pioneering new culinary program, S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) will enable guests to travel deeper still, unlocking immersive culinary experiences both on board and ashore. Enhancing the experience will be such all-inclusive amenities as complimentary wines, champagne and spirits; specialty coffees, bottled water, juices and soft drinks served throughout the ship; an in-suite bar, stocked with guests' preferences; in-suite 24-hour dining; and unlimited, complimentary Wi-Fi.
Silversea Cruises, in which Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio serves as Executive Chairman, is recognized as an innovator in the ultra-luxury cruise line industry, offering guests large-ship amenities aboard its intimate, all-suite vessels: Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper, Silver Spirit and Silver Muse – all designed to offer an atmosphere of conviviality and casual elegance. With the inclusion of the expedition ships Silver Explorer, Silver Galapagos, and Silver Cloud, Silversea's itineraries encompass all seven continents and feature worldwide luxury cruises to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, both Polar Regions and hundreds of fascinating destinations in between. Founded in 1888, Lalique is one of the crown jewels of France’s crystal glass manufacturers. René Lalique, renowned as the inventor of modern jewellery and pioneer of the international perfume industry went on to become a master in the art of glassmaking. Over time, his name has become the powerful symbol of a unique expertise, a synonym for luxury, excellence, creativity and an immediately recognizable style. Lalique earned his title, Sculpteur de Lumière, from the richly sculptural craftsmanship and dramatic contrasts between clear and frosted finishes that define his work.
Today, Lalique has reinvented the creative, eclectic world of its founder with its contemporary work in six areas: jewellery, decorative items, interior design, perfumes, art and hospitality. The company enters into exclusive collaborations with other luxury brands, artists and designers to create stunning objects and collections based on both partners’ know-how and expertise. The crystal pieces are produced in France at the Lalique factory in Alsace at the unique Lalique manufactory, opened in 1921.
Lalique continues to thrive as a truly timeless lifestyle brand.
