Innovative Program is the First of its Kind on Germany’s Fabled Rhine River

NEW YORK, NY – SEPTEMBER 29, 2016 – Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, the world’s most luxurious all-inclusive cruise line, is proud to announce its inaugural Jewish Heritage themed cruises, launching in 2017 on all departures of the company’s new “Rhine-Main Discovery & Munich” itinerary. With the addition of this unique and meticulously crafted program, Uniworld guests can discover the 2,000 year-old history and modern-day renaissance of Jewish culture and communities in Germany.

Guests will travel from Munich to Cologne, passing through the historic locales of Dachau, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Wertheim, towns and cities renowned for their centuries-old Jewish legacy. On this 10-day journey, guests can choose from a diverse menu of travel experiences—Jewish-themed excursions, the itinerary’s standard included excursions, or various “Choice Is Yours” alternatives—all of which allow guests to tailor their cruise and tour to their particular interests. Travelers seeking a fresh perspective on Judaic history and culture will learn how the Jewish people thrived for many centuries in the Rhineland and are flourishing there once again.

“As the only river cruise line offering Jewish Heritage cruises on the Rhine, our goal is to provide our guests with truly meaningful and transformative travel experiences,” said Ellen Bettridge, President & CEO of Uniworld. “Building cross-cultural bridges of understanding is at the center of everything we do at Uniworld. Germany is now home to the fastest growing Jewish community in Europe, making this an especially exciting and optimistic time to visit this beautiful country.”

Onboard Uniworld’s stylish River Ambassador, guests will dine on gourmet cuisine (non-kosher) prepared with fresh farm-to-table ingredients and paired with distinctive regional wines. Guests may also attend a series of Jewish-themed Signature Lectures introducing “The History of the Jews in Europe” and “Jewish Intellectuals, Writers & Musicians.” Presented by local experts and historians, the lectures are designed to enhance understanding of Judaism’s enduring legacy throughout the Continent.

Shore excursions offered throughout “Rhine-Main Discovery & Munich” will bring Jewish history and culture to life. Led by knowledgeable, passionate and enthusiastic guides, guests will learn about the complex social and historical realities of the “Jewish way of life” both past and present, as conveyed through captivating and insightful stories. In addition, guests will visit Jewish synagogues, cemeteries, Holocaust memorials, World War II sites, museums and historic Jewish enclaves, opportunities destined to evoke an even deeper appreciation for the enduring strength, spirit and resilience of the Jewish people.
