Pre-/Post-Cruise Doral (Miami) Day Two
Monday, November 14, 2016

We started the morning with a incredible breakfast buffet at BLT Prime, Trump National's on-site restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The buffet was massive with a large variety of items to suit every taste. An eggs made-to-order station is staffed with a chef to prepare fresh egg dishes. The chicken sausage was amazing and the bacon was the best I have had in years.

After breakfast, we were treated to an extensive tour of the property by Cari Farinas, the hotel's Director of Marketing Communications and Public Relations. We met in the beautiful lobby which is drenched in marble and evokes a feeling of quality and class. The property has been in existence for 55 years, and was operated by Marriott for a period of time. The Trump Organization purchased the property in 2012 and began a massive renovation project. Virtually nothing was left untouched. Mr. Trump had spent time at this hotel as a child along with his father so he took a very personal interest in the project.

This prestigious 800-acre property boasts a completely renovated clubhouse, 643 plush guestrooms and suites, new signature restaurants, four enhanced championship golf courses, plus all-new recreational amenities. The newly redesigned Trump Spa & Suites (there are 48 Spa Suites) invites guests to luxuriate in the splendor of it all. Ms. Farinas pointed out that Ivanka and Eric Trump were very involved in the renovation, leaving no detail to chance.

Our tour included a visit to the 48,000 square foot Trump Spa and Suites which includes a spa facility with 28 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, private locker rooms with Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and salon. My personal spa experience this afternoon confirmed that this is one of the nicest spas in the world.

We will cover more details in our upcoming review of Trump National Doral. After two nights at this property, we can already say that this is our favorite pre-/post-cruise destination in Miami. Even if we were embarking/disembarking in Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) we would opt for a stay here.

After our tour of the property, Rickee and I got ready for dinner at a local Peruvian restaurant in Doral. Trump offers complimentary transportation within five miles of the property, so we took advantage and got a ride in one of the property's SUVs. We arrived at Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar.

Pisco y Nazca

Pisco y Nazca is an upscale Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Doral. If you are looking for a unique and delicious meal, this place is not to be missed. Our meal started with a Ceviche Sampler consisting of three different ceviches. All were delicious and Rickee is now a fan of ceviche. Our appetizer was followed by two different skewer dishes and perhaps the most delicious dessert we have ever had. But, you will have to wait until our final review of Pisco y Nazca for more details.

Tomorrow, we will leave Trump National Doral and fly to Barbados to embark Windstar Star Pride.
