We have been using the same limousine/town car service for more than 10 years to transfer us from our home in Carrollton, Texas, to DFW airport. A private transfer has become something we simply choose not to live without. When we learned that Blacklane was now offering service in the DFW area, we wanted to try them to see if there were any differences between them and the company we had previously been using.
You may be wondering why we use a private transfer to the airport instead of just driving to DFW and parking the car. Covered parking at DFW is $22 per day so, by the time we pay for parking for seven or more days, a private transfer is cheaper. On this particular assignment, we were going to be out of the country for three weeks, so parking at DFW would cost roughly $450. The round-trip transfer with Blacklane cost less than $140.

Compared with other online reservation systems, Blacklane.com is very streamlined and easy to navigate. The first time you make a reservation, an account is created where you can store pertinent information such as your cell phone number, method of payment, name and address, etc. Once you enter your pick-up address, destination, date and time of ride, another screen allows you to select the type of vehicle you require.

When making our reservation, I chose the Business Class (sedan), as it is just two of us and a couple of pieces of luggage. The cost of the Business Class transfer from our home to DFW is about $3 less than the amount charged by the company we have been using. However, the Blacklane fare includes all taxes and gratuities. That makes it a much more cost-effective transfer for us. Another advantage of using Blacklane is their international presence. On this trip, we were flying to Basel, Switzerland. Had we not already made other transfer arrangements, we could have booked our transfer from the Basel airport to our hotel through Blacklane. Blacklane offers limousine services in most major cities around the world.
On the day of the transfer, I received an email from Blacklane informing me that our driver had arrived and was outside waiting for us. The email has the name of the driver and his cell phone number.
Our drive today, Amir, arrived in a new Ford Expedition which was much larger than we required. So, even though we had requested a sedan, we ended up with a much larger vehicle. Blacklane contracts with local drivers, many of whom own their own limos or SUVs, so if a sedan is not available, you may end up with a larger vehicle than you requested, but you still pay for the class of service you requested.

Even though it is not considered a "luxury" brand, the Ford Expedition is basically the same vehicle as a Lincoln Navigator, a fact Amir is quick to point out on our way to DFW. His Expedition was tricked out with all of the luxury features including very comfortable leather seats. The vehicle was spotlessly clean and there were two complimentary bottles of water for us to enjoy.

The only nit-picking observation we could make was that Amir was casually dressed. Most of the time, a limo driver will have a dress shirt and tie and often even a suit or sport coat. A corporate client transferring executives around Dallas might object, but we were fine with it. Of course, this will vary from driver to driver. Amir got us to DFW airport on time, actually a little ahead of schedule. When we arrived at the terminal, he unloaded our luggage and wished us a safe journey. Upon our return to DFW three weeks later, once again Amir was our Blacklane driver. What are the odds? Instead of a "meet and greet" outside of US Customs, Amir was parked just outside of the terminal waiting for us. I called his cell phone number from the Blacklane email and he spotted us and waved us over to his vehicle. Again, our luggage was loaded and we were delivered to our driveway quickly and efficiently.

Blacklane will be at the top of our list for future transfers to/from DFW. The lower cost, great website, and ability to book worldwide through the same website are huge plusses. In DFW, at least, we can highly recommend Blacklane.com. We look forward to using Blacklane on our next foreign assignment.
