The name Trump invokes a lot of different emotions in people around the world. But one thing is for sure, when it comes to luxury accommodations, the Trump brand has established itself as a leader. During a cruise assignment in Hawaii, we scheduled two nights in Honolulu to explore pre-/post-cruise opportunities. In our quest to find the very best luxury accommodations around the world, we spent two nights at Trump International Waikiki Beach Walk hotel. As one of the newest properties on Waikiki, Trump is already racking up an impressive number of awards.

We arrived at Trump around 3pm on Thanksgiving Day (2015). As soon as we exited the shuttle bus from the airport, a smartly dressed young lady greeted us and welcomed us to TRUMP. A porter grabbed all of our luggage and placed it on a cart, gave us a receipt, and ensured us that all luggage would be delivered to our room. The "Lobby Ambassador" then escorted us to the 6th floor Reception Desk where we were told that our room was not quite ready for us. Check-in is at 4pm and we were a bit early, so we decided to visit the Wai'Olu Oceanview Lounge and take advantage of their Happy Hour cocktails (from 3pm to 6pm). Soon, my cell phone rang and it was the Reception Desk informing me that our room was ready. We stopped by the desk, picked up our room keys and took the elevator to the 31st floor.
When we walked into our Premium 2-Bedroom Suite with Den we were completely blown away. The 1,500 sq. ft. suite is more condominium than hotel suite. In fact, some of these suites are actually owned by individuals and managed by Trump for guest occupancy. This suite has a fully-equipped kitchen with granite counter tops. And, when I say fully equipped, that means it has high-end appliances such as a Wolf range, oven, microwave, dual sink, dishwasher, a wine cooler and all cookware, glassware, dishes, flatware and cutlery you could ever need. Of course, Trump International Waikiki Beach Walk has a variety of room categories including studio and suite accommodations.

This suite also has three full bathrooms. Our four-bedroom house does not even have that! The suite is designed for families and can actually be configured to sleep up to eight people comfortably (two sofas convert into double beds). Complimentary bottled water has been placed in the full-sized refrigerator and there's complimentary coffee and tea next to the coffee maker and kettle. The bathrooms are wrapped in luxurious white marble with dual sinks in the master bathroom.

All bathrooms are outfitted with top-notch Trump-branded amenities including bath soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, toothbrushes, etc. They have thought of everything.
Extensive supply of bathroom amenities
Each bedroom has a closet and there is an entryway closet that can be used for guests who occupy the sofa beds. The master closet is a large walk-in with electronic safe for valuables, an umbrella and laundry bags. There is easily enough closet space for a six-week stay. The suite has four, yes FOUR, flat-screen HD televisions. Television programming is extensive. There is a large lanai off the living room and a slightly smaller one off the second bedroom. The exterior of the hotel has been intelligently designed so that the lanais are completely private. You cannot see your neighbor's lanai, and they cannot see yours. Very cool. The larger of the two lanais has a small table where four can comfortably enjoy a meal from room service, or one prepared en suite.
And, speaking of Lanai dining, Trump even offers a service where you can have a personal chef prepare a special meal in your kitchen. Now, how cool is that?

Of course, dining is not limited to your suite. Trump has a signature BLT Steak restaurant located on the ground floor (open for dinner only). The In-Yo Cafe is the place for al fresco dining at breakfast, offering a lavish breakfast buffet. Wai'Olu Ocean View lounge also serves lunch and dinner with amazing sunset views.
Wai'Olu Oceanview Lounge
Wai'Olu is also the place where you can navigate the "liquid artistry" of their mixologist's tropical cocktails. Make sure to try their award-winning Mai Tai, voted Best Mai Tai in Waikiki for 2011. It was definitely the best one we have ever had!

Just as a visit to Wai'Olu is not complete without trying the Mai Tai, a stay at Trump International Waikiki Beach Walk is not complete without a visit to the recently renovated Spa at Trump. We enjoyed a Couples Massage, which was basically 90 minutes of total relaxation. The Couples Massage Suites have two massage tables and an adjoining whirlpool tub and shower to enjoy after the treatment. Our Couples Massage was, hands down, the best massage treatment either of us have had to date.

While the hotel is not located directly on the Waikiki Beach, it is a short walk to the beach and Trump provides guests with complimentary beach bags filled with beach towels, sunscreen, bottled water and fresh fruit. Grab a bag on your way to the beach, then return it when you get back. Even though all beaches in Waikiki are public, Trump's Exclusive Beach Services can arrange for umbrellas, chaise loungers, surfing lessons, surfboard rentals, paddle boards, boogie boards, snorkel & fins, beach toys, even Maui Jim sunglasses! Once again, it would appear that TRUMP has thought of everything.

Hawaii is the definition of paradise. When you visit Honolulu as part of your cruise vacation, you simply must spend four days or more exploring all that the island of Oahu has to offer. Our suggestion: don't go cheap in Hawaii. This is the destination where you want to do it right and experience the luxury of paradise. We can think of no better way to do that than with an extended stay at Trump International Waikiki Beach Walk. For more information check out their website.
